Question:
Why can't I log into PSN?

I've check my internet connection, which is at 100%. All other connected devices are working perfectly, and I can Google, YouTube, and watch Netflixs on the PS3, but I can't log into PSN.

When I click 'Sign in', it says "An error occurred during communication with the server. This is a DNS error. (8002AF01)".

Also, I noticed when checking my internet connect through Network Settings, that everything seemed normal except: Secondary DNS- 0.0.0.0
Proxy Server- Do Not Use
NAT Type- Failed.

Yet, the browser and everything else is working perfectly. Has anyone got a solution?

Any help would be appreciated.

I had this exact same issue too the other day. Here's a couple of things that helped me; I won't go into how a DNS worked but your ISP's one can have issues due to so many people being on it. So, I switched my PS3 to Google's DNS. Go back and re-setup your network connection and set DNS to Manual. Set the primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and the secondary to 8.8.4.4 - that didn't fix my issue totally but I got better results on the network test (it could actually CONNECT to PSN). Before and after this fix I could connect occasionally, but mostly I would get errors and couldn't stay on for long. There is no logical reason I can find why this would fix it, but I took the ethernet cable out of one of my other devices, plugged it in, and whaddaya know - hours of uninterrupted PSN access.

So, try a wired connection; I am quite knowledgeable about computers yet I have no idea how this would fix the issue. Anybody else who's more knowledgeable about network setups have an idea?

It means that there is to many people trying to join the server, and there isn't enough room you have to wait a little bit and try again later. When this issue happens to me I try in a approximately about 2 hours and it works.

Hi my names Mike from Team Prophacy Gaming what your experiencing isnt a network lag or fail to connect but plagstations sever or network is currently down usely they do this for new updates

Or bug fixes in the network it self i say its better off that way then having 140 Million people runing arround on the network having it crash while working on it

They shut it down also so that you yourself the gamer dosent lose and data in your profile while they work just remember the code on your screen and what it means itll help you become a better gamer and playstation user

Lizard is probably the reason why. Who are they you might ask? Hackers living in their parent's basement.
