Is Halo master chief collection co op?

I've never played any of the Halo games (which is sad since I have had a 360 for the past 5 years). Anyways I was thinking about getting the master chief collection for my XB1 to get me caught up.

Anyways I'm normally only into games that are very story driven with deep character development (the last of us, uncharted, bioshock, heavy rain ect), however, I can make exceptions to games if they have really good gameplay and co op.

I like FPS where there is good gameplay and offline co op. From what I've seen, I think I will like the gameplay in halo, but I was wondering if you can play through the halo games campaigns in co op?

In Halo 1 and Halo 2 its only 2 player co-op.



In Halo 3 and Halo 4 its a max of 4 player co-op.



This can be both online or local.



Matchmaking can be played with a maximum of 4 players on one console.

Actually all of them except for CE is 4-player coop whether online or local system connection on Xbox One.
