Hey, I got WOW around a month ago and made a Blood Elf Paladin. I am already at level 55 and love my Pally. Pallys can wear plate armour at level 40 and can tank, dps, or heal. They are a survivor class really because whether you are a tank, dps, or heal, you will still be able to heal yourself extremely easily. I have a retribution Pally, which is the dps spec for paladins and I also do more dps than most of the tanks that I am put with in the instances. I could continue going on and on about how great paladins are but I feel like playing WOW right now, so I just want to say that the paladin class is the best choice for a new player since you can always change between tanking, dps, and healing if you want.

Basically the pure dps classes are hunter, warlock, mage, and rogue. All of the others have a 'hybrid tax' in which because they can heal or tank, they don't do as much output. However, it is in correct to say that Rogues or any particular class consistently tops the DPS charts more than the others. It definitely goes around quite a bit. But they do so very differently as others have pointed out.

To more directly answer your question:

Hunters and Warlocks have pets/minions and have the best/easiest time leveling and do an excellent job of topping DPS charts. Mages and Rogues also do well but I would disagree that they are as easy to level as Hunters and Warlocks.

Then it's a matter of magic or not :)

Personally i would go with the hunter, they are ranged and have a pet to distract what your killing so that you don't get hurt. Also they have one of the best talent trees in the game in terms of DPS (its the marksman one, not sure if they will have changed that though but it was great when i was playing).

Also if you play solo they are the best class, it even says so on the character creation screen, which is great when you first start playing especially if you don't know anyone on the game that could help you.

The hunter is also great because you can get to grips with what the game is like without struggling at any parts (this could put you off the game if you got really stuck at some point, i started a human mage and got stuck, never played mage since)

Hope that this helps

Rogues definitely top the charts right now. They can be difficult to learn though.

If you want easy to learn, I would say go with hunter.

If you want versatility; go with priest (shadow spec), warrior (fury spec), or paladin (retribution spec) These classes will allow you to be good for other things than just damaging mobs.

Paladin and warrior will allow you to play with tanking. Paladin and priest will allow you to play with healing.

If you want to be able to do it all, try druid. while you can only have two specs at a time, druids can do very well in the DPS department in both feral (cat form) and boomkin. My guild has used 2 druid healers for many raids successfully.

Figure out your play-style and pick a class based on that, not who currently tops the DPS charts.

I have a rogue, but I suck with him. I do very well with my hunter, mage, and shadow priest though. My style is as a ranged. If you like melee, pick one of those. Good luck.

Rogues seem to be doing the best right now, but that always changes with the winds so the best thing you can do is pick a class you like. Blizz changes stuff so much that you will be topping the charts some day :) cuz a month before that my dk was beating everyone on the meters.

i'd have to say a shaman.

you can melee dps, you can cast and you can heal. enhancement shamans are excellent for raids not only for the dps output, but everyone loves the totems as well as the unleashed rage buff (+100 attack power)

leveling this character is easy since you can dps and heal efficiently. there is relatively no down time especially after you get water shield and mana totem. (druid is similair in that you can cat form for damage, pop out to heal and back into cat form. no down time at all while questing as a cat)

i have raided with shamans that put rogues to shame, and i raided as a rogue for the first two years of wow so i know how easy a rogue is to play.

good luck! have fun, and see you in azeroth :)

Rogues are pretty efficient since forever, warlocks are doing decently. Warriors are okay and allow for tanking when you're bored of dpsing(however they will always be a hybrid so there's no guarantee they'll be stable at topping charts). you'll want to level something you're most comfortable with though. some classes can be good but if you don't enjoy them or hate their way of dealing damage / it's too complicated, you're not going to do a very good job regardless of the class.

Rogues are pretty much op in dps, I havent played in a few months, but my rogue was pulling 10k dps in 5300 gs... but the thing is with rogues, there are so many dps specs to chose from , you'll need to do alot of research / experiment to get the optimal damage doing

My personal preferences are found in either the Mage or Warlock. They are both immensely fun to play and increasingly similar as the days go by. The Fire and Destruction specs for the respective classes are the more fun ones in wide opinion, however the generally considered "best" specs for them (at least for leveling) are frost and affliction.

Hope this helps!

Rogues, Warlocks, and Paladins are great right now.

Paladins can wear mail, cloth, and leather, they can heal, have many buffs, and dps good.

Warlocks have alot of DOT (damage over time) which makes it easier to kill, along with minions you can do dps pretty efficiently. you can wear only cloth

Rogues are good dps because you have stealth. You can sap targets and kill easily. Rouges can wear cloth and leather.

Its up to you to decide, all are great

shadow priest! screw rogues... for real im leveling one now and i can pull mobs of 5 or more. i can heal my self (though never needed) and my mana never runs out and if it does shadow priests have a move that makes u take less damage and renerate almost all mana while in or out of combat. i top the dps charts every dungion... go priest there beastly and fun to level

*** There's a lot of rogue fans here lol. I find that Druids are good starter characters. They're easy to learn with and if you change your mind and want to heal or tank instead of dps, you have that option with a druid.

It depends,

If you are into spells & magics, choose

Druid - nature & shapeshifting spells

Shaman - healing & shamanistic spells

Warlock - demonic spells

Mage - ice & fire spells

Priest - holy & healing spells

If you are into melee attacks, choose

Warrior - the most normal of them all

Death Knight - the darker equivalent of the paladins

Paladin - the melee fighters of light

If you are into range attacks, choose

Rogue - poison, stealth, and a good combination of melee & range

Hunter - animal taming & range attacks

In my opinion, I would choose a druid & rogue because they represent my inner self.

That's all :) xxxXBAITAXxxx
