Question:
Is there a way to trade between GBA and new Pokemon games with having only one Nintendo DS?

I have a Nintendo DS Lite. I also have a Gameboy Advanced, but my trading cord-thing was lost quite some time ago. I heard somewhere that if you put your GBA game and your new game (such as my Diamond, and my Emerald) in the same Nintendo DS, you can trade between them. If this is true, then how?

Put Emerald int he GBA slot and before you go into your Diamond game it'll say at the bottom "Migrate From Emerald" and you can select six Pokemon to migrate to your Diamond each day. After you migrate them to Diamond you have to go to Pal Park and recapture them (you don't have to battle them and they can't break out of the Pokeballs you receive).

You're half right. It is true you can put your Emearld in the GBA slot, but you can only import six pokemon at a time and you can't trade between the two games. You can only send your Emerald pokemon to your Diamond game and go to pal park after you beat the elite four and get the national pokedex. You can only import/migrate pokemon every 24 hours and if you try to change the clock on your DS to a later time you will have to wait 24 hours since you tried to change the clock, so don't try that. Remember once you send a pokemon from your Emerald to your Diamond, you can't get it back in your emerald. So be sure you want those pokemon to migrate. If a pokemon game is in your GBA slot, in the screen in your Diamond where it says to continue your adventure, in the bottom it should say Migrate Pokmon from Emerald. And that is pretty much it. Hope I helped. I should know i do it all the time, oh yeah, you go to pal park and there you can catch the migrated pokemon with pal park balls which all have an 100% catch rate so don't worry about losing your pokemon.

If you have beaten the Elite 4 and retrieved the National Dex in Pokemon Pearl/Diamond, when you turn on the game on the main menu there will be an option for Migration. If you have a GBA pokemon game in the bottom slot of your DS you will be able to choose the pokemon you wish to migrate from that GBA game's PC box.

Once you do so, the pokemon that you migrate to the DS game (Caution: Once you migrate a pokemon from the GBA to the DS you will NOT be able to trade it back to the GBA) you need to go to the Pal Park (location: Go to Sandgem Town, & then go along the water route from the beach. You'll meet alot of water pokemon trainers, so stock up. Once you get to land, just go to the end of the island & there will be Pal Park) and catch the pokemon you migrated (simply throw a pokeball at them) and they will appear in your PC Box.

You CANNOT TRADE Pokémon between the GBA & DS versions.

YOU CAN, however, import Pokémon from the GBA versions into the DS versions through the Pal Park. Please note that you'll need to complete the game & have the National PokéDex in order to open up the Pal Park.

When you're ready to import your pokémon, select the "Import from ..." option. Then select the 6 pokémon you want to import to th Pal Park. Please note that the pokémon you want cannot have any HM moves. You'll have to go to the Move Deleter beforehand.

Once you have 6 pokémon selected, hit import & they'll be moved from the GBA pack into your DS's Pal Park.

IMPORTANT: THIS IS A ONE-WAY DEAL! DO NOT IMPORT POKEMON TO THE DS VERSIONS UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN THAT YOU WILL NO LONGER NEED THEM IN THE GBA VERSION!

Please note that you can only import pokémon one per GBA pack per 24 hours. If you change your DS or Pokémon's internal clock (in the GBA version), you'll have to wait an additional 24 hours.

Once you have the Pal Park stocked, go to the Pal Park & play the "Catch 'em" minigame! Enjoy!

You can't use a cord to trade, and you can't trade from diamond or pearl to the GBA game, but you can "migrate" the pokemon from the GBA game to D/P. First put D/P into the DS slot and put whichever GBA game has the pokemon you want in D/P into the GBA cartridge spot. On the title screen scroll down to where it says "migrate from saphire" or whatever game you have in it. you can chose I think 6 pokemon a from your boxes a day to transfer to D/P. It isn't over yet... load up your save file and go to the safari park or whatevr it's called and then catch the pokemon you transfered
