Purchasing/selling ingame gold or items for real world money is a violation of Blizzards TOS. You've agreed to this the very first time you logged in and the first time you login after every patch. Your account will indeed be banned.
They have routines setup to flag certain activities that occur in the game and investigate them. In this case they will check where the gold came from and follow the trail. When it comes from known characters that facilitate this kind of transaction, the accounts involved are banned.
And as an extra added bonus, the sites that advertise this kind of thing are generally loaded with keyloggers. Just visiting one the sites could cause you to lose your account to hackers.
If you value your account, I would refrain from this activity. You might also read this statement from Blizzard:
Well the other answers already say it. Don't. The best way to make money is to look at what is in high demand in the auction house and go farm it. When you amass large amounts of it, slowly release it into the AH for slightly higher than normal prices. If people put up their stock, they will slightly undercut you and return the economy to normal

I suggest not buying gold. You'll get banned if your caught. And it DOES ruin the economy( as nerdy as that sounds) of WoW. Or better yet, just quit the game. I escaped the no life wrath 6 months ago.

Well, a lot of people don't know how to really make money. You can do it very simple. Even if you're not at the level cap. Just do simple tasks and work with your proffession a bit, do SOME grinding, quest, and just try to do it simple. Just have fun with it. Don't spend any more money on WoW.

Most of it is fake and they try to take your money. Besides the only way to get gold other than trading high amounts and risk getting banned would be to hack also risking getting banned or get it by playing by the rules.

i would search the site further to make sure they wont hack your account and to make sure they are giving you actual gold
also sometimes they have special coupons like "buy any amount of gold and get 5 free" or somthing like that

gold? no thats like a waste of money. Maybe one piece if ur a huge fan, but i wouldnt spend ur money on it. WOW sucks up enough money as it is.

Ahh, buying gold is WAY stupid.
Just farm it.
Wont take that long.
Then, you don't have to waste money on it.

buying gold with money destroys the economy of anygame, also its against the TOS and can get your account banned ... so ask yourself is it worth taking the risk and wasting your money?

I heard that it was a bad idea. It ruins the games "virtual economy" - your account will be banned if you get caught.

My boyfriend did that on his account and he sent half to someone he knew because your account will get banned or something if they find out you bought it.
