How do you update a 3.40 original psp to any custom firmware?

I want to update my psp to custom firmware but i dont want to use pandoras battery and magic memory stick. If i try to use a downgrader there is none out for 3.40 and if i try to update my psp to 3.50 normal firmware it says error code dadadada, can someone help

You can do it without a pandoras battery, and with the lumines game, but that has a chance of bricking your psp (the hardware works but when you turn it on the screen is blank). to do it the safer way, you need a pandora's battery. you can buy one at this link for $9.66 with free shipping.

pandora's batteries have an amazing resale price on ebay right now, they go for about 40-50 dollars so you can actually make money off this. for the magic memory stick just google the files needed. you can use the memory stick you have right now, just reformat it when you are done. hope this helps and email me if you need more help at [e-mail]

It is possible to downgrade 3.40 without a pandoras battery, but then you need the UMD for the game "Lumines". I suggest you check out the link below which will tell you how downgrade any PSP firmware (and afterwards being able to upgrade to custom firmware)

Well the thing is you need the pandora battery to downgrade the Play Station Portable. And to get custom firmware you need to downgrade. I have the pandora battery and mem.stick but I failed, so I wasted some time.

I have heard of software where you can get the custom firmware without these so try to google them. Hope that helped!

go to mikehacks.com and on the left look for the lumins link...it will bring you to a video on how to downgrade your PSP with the lumins games...he also has the link for the program he uses in the video...

what you will need:

A PSP firmware 3.50 or lower.

computer- with PSP cable

the lumins game

the save game state from web site to load on your PSP

WinRAR- to open files (free download)

and lastly time...it may take a while...watch the video once before you do anything, and if you dont under stand it watch it agian until you do...its very easy to follow, then oncce you have hacked your PSP you will be able to upgrade to any custom firmware you want 3.71 M33-2, 4.01 M33-2, 3.52 M33, anything...have fun and good luck
