World of Warcraft : account question.?

I recently bought and installed WoW the original disk, but due to errors and problems my friend lent me the Lich King to install as it includes the updates.

Question is, if i install WoW Lich King, do i need to update my WoW account to play on the severs?

As long as it installs the game and you can run the Patcher, you should receive all files necessary to play WoW, with whatever expansions your Account is authorized.



In other words, if you install from Expansion Disc but do not own the expansion, you will still be able to log in and play your characters. Without the benefits of the expansion.



Also, with regards to Bodhi's comment below: Since you already bought the Original game, you can still play WoW (non-expansion) with the Serial Key provided with the copy you paid for.



However, if you wish to upgrade with Wrath of the Lich King, it would be necessary to purchase a key / copy of the game.

You can't use the same authentication code that came with your friend's copy. You'll need to log in and buy it to be able to play that content.
