Question:
Is 15 years old too old to play video games??

My parents say that now I am too old to play video games.
They say that I should forget about them now and have no desire to play them and concentrate on my studies (even after my exam)

I barely even play anymore. I was playing in the car and my dad told me to shut it off and he said that I am addicted to them.

So then I told him that everyone else my age and older plays video games and he says that those kids will end up working at taco bell or another cheap $15 per hour job.
Is that true??

That is partly true. Usually people get so addicted to games that they don't care about homework anymore and just care about getting more video games and beating them. They don't care about college or anything educational anymore and they only get a high school degree, there is a 0% chance you will get into a good college, and good college means a good job.

However, if you can control yourself with video games such as saying "I'm only going to play for 15 minutes and get back to work." If you can actually get back to work after playing for fifteen minutes then you are good. If you find yourself saying "Oh, I'll just play for a couple more minutes" or "I'll just play for 2 hours and get back to work". Then there is a serious problem and you should give the game to your dad and let him do whatever with it until you can get control over yourself again.

I hate to dis-respect your parents and all, but they are really and truly WRONG. I'm 16 years old and i play video games. But that's like the perfect age! Even people in their 20s+ play video games! While the video games they play are usually mature rated and are mostly shooting games, they still qualify as video games.

15 is a good age because your old enough to know how to balance school and social life, but you still need to have some fun! I don't play video games too much, but when I do I feel like it's a nice release from stress. I have a job and working on going to a nice college (I'm a junior) and I already have my major picked out (psychology). Sometimes it's hard for me to have a job (I work in American Eagle, a nice clothing retail store your parents will surely approve of) and do all my school work. So i take a break sometimes and play Rock Band 2 or Super Smash Brothers Melee.(Sometimes, if I'm EXTREMELY bored, I'll play an old-school pokemon game on my game boy)

So tell or show this response to your parents, and maybe they will understand that it's fine to play video games at your age. I hope this helps out your problem =D

P.S.- $15 an hour isn't that cheap btw. Well maybe when your 25+ but right now I'm making about $10 an hour lol =D

Most 15 year olds play video games a lot. Heck my 7 year old daughter is glued to her DS half the time. But we are a house of gamers anyways. If I had a 15 year old son I would give him 2 hours a day during school days and 5 during Non school days. And only after he does his household chores and homework.

Aye! You're never too old to play video games! What do your parents know? Hmmph!

Never make gaming a lifestyle, just a hobby. You should try maintaining your grades, but it's okay to play video games as long as they dont take over your life.

Now those kids that "will work at Taco Bell", your parents probably dont even know who they are, so what do THEY know? As long as you do the work and turn it in, and study for tests, it doesn't matter if you game or not. Good Grades are the key.

Nope. I'm 23 and still play wii everyday. I'm in college working on a degree that can pull in 120,000+ a year with a masters. As long as you study first, there's no problem with using a video game to allow your brain to veg for a bit and allow you to unwind. I just have a schedule so I get all my homework done (which in college means like 3 hours of homework), then study for an hour or two. That way your grades are still great and you can still have time to game. =0)

the majority of people that play video games are 20 and over, there's like 20 or 30% of people under 20 that play video games. Most of the people that have a playstation 3 or xbox 360 are in the 20 and over & have very good jobs that pay for there house, big screen hd Lcd or Plasma T.V., and car.

That's not true at all, lol.

My dad used to play video games all teh time when he was younger (Granted, they didn't have many video games at the time, but still) and now he's a head dude at Applebee's. HE makes like, a crudload of money.

(Go tell THAT to your dad. XD)

No, there isn't an age too stop. You can play video games, but have to make sure you are doing well in school. Don't get addicted, but have fun and there is no age to stop!

no way! i think your parents are wrong. just cuz you play vid games doesnt mean you'll hav a bad life. its easy to do good in school and study and hav fun at the same time. my dad even plays video games and he is wayyy older than 15 lol =)

no way, my mom's bf is 62 and still plays. he's retired military and retired from the irs.

my father is 56 and still plays.

my fiance is 26 and still plays.

most people who play are over 18. and you should tell your parents that you'd never make $15 at taco bell. most people dont make that in an office job

uhhh no.

just get good grades and make video games a hobby instead of a lifestyle (lifestyle meaning like most of the people that work at eb games). i play video games and im at a college prep school and im going to college so...its fine. your dad prolly had a deprived childhood. like working on a farm.
