Question:
An ACTUAL War Game....................?

Never played CoD before online till about a week or two ago. I thought it was going to an actual WAR game. Like, a WAR game. But you just run around aimlessly and shoot whoever you see first. But it is broken because of its cheap 'cover system', stupid things such as perks and killstreaks, people respawning directly behind you, people shooting you as soon as you respawn... the list goes on.

But I am not going to sit and make some fanboys angry at me. I am here to simply ask for a good war game. You know, one that requires teamwork, strategy, tactics, firefights, and more.

I just don't see why everyone thinks CoD is so great.... it's awful to me. I guess everyone else has different standards for a war game than me.

Any other war games that make you feel like you're in a areal battle?

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway for 360, PS3, and PC

They use flank maneuvers and cover fire tactics as well as commanding a squad

The largest problem now days is not the game but it seems to be the people playing it. I cannot stand playing a game like Call of Duty without a dedicated team with me because randoms have no communication skills and do what you described. I do like the Halo series because it seems to be the most fun without being too easy for the entire team. So instead of hating on the game might i suggest trying to get a team of friends together for a night of gaming over the internet and practice some call outs or just try telling everyone what your status is. It's very relieving to know that you have people you know and trust behind your back to avenge your death, not to mention you know what they, as gamers, are capable of. Now Call of Duty might not be your style and i highly suggest trying many other series before you set your preference in stone but always be sure you have capable, well communicating friends to help you out. Hope this is enlightening and if it isn't sorry for disappointing.

Call of Duty is more like virtual Paintball. It's only as fun as the people you play with. Personally I have a great time playing Call of Duty but to each is own. I'm been playing video games since Commodore 64 and have been building custom rigs and played quite a few games over the years

You might be looking for more of a squad based first person shooter (this is where tactics mean more than reflexes)

Here's a list of games to try and their IGN critics scores:

Bad Company 2 (8.9 out of 10) (Personally Recommended)

SOCOM 4 (7 out of 10)

Ghost Recon 2 (8.3 out of 10)

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (7.9 out of 10)

There are many many more squad based shooters out there but I figured I would only list the games that are on XBOX 360, PS3, and PC platforms.

The key is when you are looking for these games is to specifically look for SQUAD BASED. It's a subgenre of the big ole First Person Shooter category.

Hope that helps

Great FPS games that would give you those are hard to come by, and I agree with your Black Ops opinion.

I prefer the FPS games Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 1943 for the teamwork required and the great use of exotic and famous vehicles drivable in both first and third person. And the sheer majority of ways to approach a single situation. You can bomb the hell out of it or go in commando with a knife and pistol. (No Commando Pro/Tac Knives+hardcore=AWESOME) Or for the hell of it pull out an RPG-7 and blow a nice hole out of the building for a dramatic entrance, and an effective one. With the Frostbite Engine you can blow down buildings to take things to a whole new level. (Theres a sniper in the tower, 3 C4 later, "What tower?") It makes great memories and awesome vehicle gameplay.

Also for Third Person games Rainbow Six games are pretty tactical with a nice variety of explosives and firearms.

If you get Battlefield Bad Company 2 this is the gamertag that will show you the ropes assuming you got a mic.

You might like Brothers in Arms and Gears of War(despite the cover system, it uses insane amounts of teamwork and tactics).

Another one I like is Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. Great game, very intense and tactical. It uses teamwork. You go by yourself, you're going to get killed. The AI will distract you while others flank. It's pretty neat.

if you have a PC that can run the game I would say ArmA 1 and ArmA 2 hands down the most realistic military game that is extremely challenging and if you only own a console yea go for operation flashpoint but arma is better since you can call airstrikes and helicopter pickups etc etc

Other people already answers really good 'War Games', but I can add Battefield 2 or Bad company 2.

Anyway, people like cod cause its FUN. not realism, but plain ballz to tha wallz fun. I would like to add that although its unrealistic and stuff, tactics abound in COD if you use them, but that's just me talking..

i won't be able to allow you to comprehend all of the situations i've got killed 5 insurgents with out loss of existence and referred to as in a tactical nuke. We have been continuously utilising the enemy's weapons, doing HALO jumps, etc. My renowned component of being interior the army is that as quickly as you get shot, you may in simple terms cover at the back of a wall for some seconds respiration heavily and you'd be good to bypass! we don't choose medics or docs for that - hell, i think of the only MOS available is Infantry! yet on the different hand, in case you get get caught in a cinematic and you get shot as quickly as, you ought to be interior the wellbeing facility for months, or perhaps die. i think of call of accountability is respectable - i do no longer play online by using fact of all of the little childrens, inspite of the undeniable fact that it incredibly is a enormously relaxing little shooter. The worst section approximately video games like it particularly is how unrealistically they portray conflict and glamorize it, inspiring all of the kiddies to criticize U.S. defense force kit and methods (even nonetheless the only journey they have with an M-sixteen is with TEH combating means PERK!) or think of of themselves as hardcore, or come directly to yahoo solutions asserting they are waiting to be a SEAL.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River. Picking that up, it is so realistic. It's unbelievable. You die in one shot, they die in one shot.
