Zombies are boring.go for Silent Hill.at least it makes you think about the plots and deep storyline.the dark side of every character is been interpreted by the monsters in the game. e.g Twobacks for rapist, Pyramid Head for the killer and Straightjacket for the beloved ones who has been tormented.

Silent Hill, no question. Any Silent Hill game (aside from 4) is better than any of the older (pre-RE4) RE's. Both games have roughly the same gameplay mechanics, but RE is less disturbing and less interesting. RE4 is good, but it's just an action game, not very scary.

Silent Hill is more DISTURBING and has lots of different kinds of monsters where Resident Evil is fighting the same kind of monster.

Silent Hill, by far. It's creepy throughout, while RE only has a few jump scares each game but otherwise has no tension at all.

I vote for the third option: Eternal Darkness. I've had it for 6 years, but it still kinda freaks me out when I play it. Lovecraft-style psychological horror is scarier than zombies and serial killers, hands down.

Silent hill is that game with the sock puppets, right? if you like blowin' off their heads go with that. there was a rumor that resident evil 5's controls are similar to gears of war, so if you love cannon fodders, go with that.
