My ps2 says "Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc".?

Question

I just switched it off and then on the other day thought of playing GOD OF WAR. But it says that format disc problem. All the games that were working on the day before were not playing now. I know that this problem means that u have to insert a playstation disk which can be read by ps2 but the games which were running earlier are not running now. Please Help me...

I had the same problem with a newly brought guitar hero 5 cd.its says that the disc could not be read.It might be because the cd has got too many scratches, is pirated or maybe the lens is spoiled.Take your playstation to your customer care service and ask them to verify your doubts.i got my lens changed and my guitar hero 5 works great !!!

You didn't give any detailed information about your PS3 such as model number etc ! If you have a 20GB-Model Number CECHB01 , 60GB-Model Number CECHA01 or an earlier 80GB-Model Number CECHE01 that came bundled with the games "Motorstorm" or "Metal Gear Solid 4" then your PS3 IS backwards compatible and will PLAY PS2 games ! Other than those 3 models listed above, no other PS3 console will play PS2 games but all PS3 consoles will play PS1 games ! Click the links below for more help regarding backwards compatibility !

For 1 Azeem is a idiot and for 2 some resons why 1 Ps2 is Hot. 2 Game is dirty. 3 the eye of the Ps2 is dirty. 4 Ps2 eye is dis placed. 5 blow the cords in the back cuz they can some times keep the Ps2 from funcions. 5. mostlikly the eye of the Ps2 is dirty,mest up, moved, scratched. Fix all these probs and go back to enjoying ur games.

i used to have this problem with the slim model ps2. each time it was the Lens not reading. it'll say that each time. i had to replace 3 ps2's due to this. hope this helps

You must have been using pirated cds that

dont play pirated cds

ps2 is not made for this ...alright
