The DMCA has PLENTY of legal loopholes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act

Don't download movies/games/tv shows.. when on a site like www..Ninjavideo.net. Let it upload onto the DivX player. (you have option of right-clicking on player once video fully buffered and selecting "save video" to save the media to your hard drive. DON'T DO THAT. That is the illegal part. ((To fully comply you will also need to set your browser to delete all cookies and such each time you close the browser)) This way you are doing Nothing illegal. You are "holding/owning" nothing, as opposed to downloading a movie, where there is a physical "thing" you "have" that is not your property.

Little more complicated for these sites' ...

Now these site/s, lets use www..Ninjavideo.net as an example. are the ones who will evolve (simply BECAUSE the feds forced their hand). Soon they will purchase or likely work a deal with a private party, their own servers, and will manually beef the encryption to cover 6 months at a time before having to re-encrypt. (Moore's law is a *****) Whats amusing to me I think...is imagine how much Free publicity the Feds just handed to these 9 sites. Naught thought through thoroughly

Most people start out good, Then once employed they are eventually put in a place where they have to make a decision... do something that compromises what they believe, or lose their job. Over and over. I think this is where our humanity starts evolving a bit. In a Negative way, unfortunately. -Author Unknown

I feel bad that NinjaVideo.net is down, and will probably stay down. The one thing to keep in mind here is all the content was hosted in the Netherlands so therefore all the content on the server are still 100% intact (by content I mean the pages with the links, not the files as they were never ever on Ninja's servers). The problem was the domain itself was registered in the US so it was the domain NOT the servers that were seized. Technically speaking, someone with direct access to those servers (who wasn't arrested) could easily just register another domain and have it back up and running in no time (although again highly doubt it).

There's a few things that may be good about this happening... There's a crapload of sites on the net that offer the same types of content that wasn't touched in the raids. Many of these site have a larger selection that are using the same places to upload (so the same speeds) without the crappy self-appointed "Queen of the Internet" Phara running the place. So you'll be able to speak your mind and not afraid of getting your personal info flagged across the mainsite because you told Phara something she didn't like.

The site was a fantastic source and quickly updated, but the arrogance of the people involved who thought they were invincible was ultimately the downfall of the site. If they wouldn't have slammed down the people who visits throats that they were the best out there every day and made comment after comment about how they couldn't be stopped, maybe they would still be around today (with a Paypal Account with some money in it).

That being said, I highly recommend you find the other couple dozen sites with larger selections of TV/Movies and visit there. I'd post some helpful links, but I don't want them to get targeted next.

re1ease is not a twin site, though it was set up by former ninjas.

This is the latest official announcement by one of the ninja admin,

Users, Members, Friends, and Family of NinjaVideo,

Yesterday was not only a day that shocked us inexplicably, but physically as well as emotionally disrupted the lives of some of our Admins. The support and love shown by our members that are clinging on to any way of communication they can, and from followers that we have never seen or heard of before is truly remarkable and touches me and the other Admins to our core. We can't tell you how much we appreciate it and in return we feel the least we can do is share with you what info we can at this time.

I cannot speak for all the Admins, but I will speak for myself and the other Admins will jump in when and if they feel necessary.

The information I can provide is limited, but here is what I feel you can know at this time. There are a lot of wild and crazy reports and speculation around the internet and news world but I can assure you ONLY about 5% of what is out there is actually true. I can confirm search warrants and seizures did take place at 4 undisclosed locations. I can also confirm our servers and information were NOT seized. The systems were disabled per our request. The future status of Ninjavideo is yet to be determined, but down and out? Buahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, THIS **** IS NINJA!!!!

Stay tuned for future announcements....

I would like to say a few things about the article from hollywoodreporter if you dont mind. First off I dont believe Ninjavideo ever offered downloads that needed to be paid for so 1 Their not making any money off of it and the article clearly states they earned their revenue from ads and donations. How is this considered illegal? 2. It was said every time a movie was downloaded it was finacialy hurting the industry and "these thieves are undermining the economy on a grand scale". US Immigration, Custom's agents and even Homeland Security were involved!! I think all three of these organizations need to be doing their F'n job's and concentrating on dealing with the illegal aliens that have taken over 80% of the residential and commercial construction workforce not to mention thousands upon thousands of other places of employment. Now those are the thieves which are helping, if not creating the down-spiral of our economy.Every bit of their money is sent to their families in Mexico and most of them are paid under the table with no taxes being paid "at all" except for on alcohol and fast food. The illegal's will work for less money than a white man will so who do you think is gonna be willing to hire a white guy that pays taxes when a Mexican will do it for less and not pay taxes? Nobody, which is why Im unemployed(going on 4 months)at the moment. All the while the illegals are increasing the number of wealthy people in the US by working for le$$. OK, those business owners are better off but what about the "tax payers" that got left out jobless in a so-called bad economy? How is this being ignored while people that offer movies to watch are getting raided and all of their money taken? The sites to my knowledge were paying taxes and not actually selling movies and TV episodes but giving the content away. Is this considered piracy? What I know to be the definition of Piracy is anyone that records(in a movie theatre) and/or sells movie content for profit. Well, were they actually profiting from the content which they didnt record nor sell? They need to go after the actual recorder's and uploaders of the content not the people that are giving it way because as long as their around the movies and sites will keep come'n. When they go after people like Ninjavideo they will sieze lots of money and say that it was obtained illegally when Joe Blow that originally recorded the movie in the theater only makes $30,000 a year and doesnt have nothing to take. When it comes down to it its all about money,C'mon the US Immigration and the Department of Homeland Security? Sounds like a classic shakedown to me!!! I think if any other Government organization was low on funds they would get together with a couple more broke *** one's and do a shakedown on somebody elses business that was thriving. I'd almost be willing to bet that the piracy law was altered or added to right before the shakedown.

Im gonna go ahead and end it here. I think people get my point and that this situation could be read into a little more than it has. Besides, I could go on and on about it and it wouldnt do me or anybody else any good. I just want to say that I think we no longer live in a free country where anybody can do what they want or dream of without there being some kind of catch or consequence. In the early years of the US was everyone including the government so greedy? I think not. "I guess Im gonna have to sell my surround-sound equipment and go back to the movies"

I didnt proof read it so give me a break if I rambled on a bit. Thanks for reading, Josh Weatherly

The FEDS took it down. ITS GONE! AHHHHH I'm crying. The 7 major studios that control the industry, went and had the feds shut Ninja down. The studios think that it will help their revenue and that they have been losing revenue because of websites like Ninja. I think they are wrong. Some people simply don't have and can not afford cable. Some people simply don't go to the movies. So the people who do watch the television programs and grainy movies on Ninja are not now going to all the sudden go out and buy cable or satellite packages, they are not now going to all the sudden go to the movies every week! It will have no effect on revenue for the studios. Thats my humble opinion.

It's insane that ninjavideo got shut down essentially by the united states government and a bunch of hollywood crybabies. Those resources could have been used to apprehend REAL criminals! Sites like ninjavideo are the reason why I bought the box set DVDs to shows like Burn Notice that I'd never get on regular cable! I found this cool site with more info on the shut down http://bit.ly/dgEIhC and apparently 8 other sites got shut down too!

Looks like they got a warrant for all there servers as well. quoted form torrentfreack

“This investigation resulted in the execution of federal search warrants for their content and domain name at servers in the United States and the Netherlands. HSI agents also executed four residential search warrants in North Carolina, New Jersey, New York and Washington,” reads the ICE announcement."

I loved this site was able to watch Doctor Who episodes 2-3 weeks before they aired in the states. Time to search for a new site i guess.

Not True they didn't get shut down t. They had a thing on the forum they were doing stuff to the server. They said the site will be down. They didn't say for how long and the forum site is also down now. THEY TOOK THEIR SITE OFF. "The systems were disabled per our request. The future status of Ninjavideo is yet to be determined, but down and out? Buahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, THIS **** IS NINJA!!!!" That the reason their no seizure page yet

Ninjavideo.net has been shut down but another will probably just take its place.

Apparently, ninjavideo was one of nine site that was taken down by the U.S government.
