I too am a 13 year old, I have both a psp and ds and my ds has been gathering dust for months since ive had my psp. I remember i wanted a pc to go onto the internet, but i couldn't afford it either. I looked on the internet and it said the psp is to buy when you can afford a laptop. It has a huge screen first of all, you can put music on it too, also you can put mp4 videos on it. AND MY FAVORITE PART, you can go on the internet with it, that's why i love it most. btw, i used to think psp sucked and i thought ds was better, and when i got a psp, i was wrong xD So i used to be biased but now im not, i have both consoles and WAAAYY prefer the psp.

A PSP is probably a great overall choice. PSP do have much better graphics than that of the DS. The games are about a 50-50 split, but the controls are much harder to learn and get used to. PSPs also have the capability to go on the internet and hold A LOT of music, all you could possibly want to listen to. When Sony made thePSP they wanted to make it more than just a gaming device, not like the DS. Besides, the new model of the DS is coming out in a year, so it'd be a bad investment anyway.

Well it all depends..

In my opinion a laptop will be a better Choice 'if" you are work oriented.

Like doing projects, presentations, take your data everywhere. But if you are not work oriented. Like gets less homework. Then you should go for a gaming console. Well "ya" for 13 year old you do get a lot of homework and presentations. It is true that laptops are expensive but you CAN get more done anymore on that device. Laptops and Ds are totally different. A Ds is not expensive because it cannot perform a lot of functions. A Psp is better compared to Ds. But PSP lacks the touch screen. PSP has better graphics and all that. So if you like to play go for a PSP instead if you choose to work then go for a laptop it is worth the money you are spending.Well for myself I chose a laptop when I was 8 and it is great companion.

get the laptop, since the ds is only making childish games now. the ds gets boring after you beat the game, since the multiplayer and download is horrible 90% of the time. ive had a ds and it got boring. (my brother broke 5 of his)

psp is awesome. has internet, awesome games like a console at home would, down-loadable videos, music, games, multiplayer, skins for screen saver, password to lock it,photos, slide shows, internet radio, rss chanel, skype and much more.

So my advice, get the laptop and psp 2nd if you still want it

Get a DS.

13 is too young for a laptop.

I've had a ds since they were released and I still play mine every day, and I'm in my 20s. (wonderful for passing time in doctors' offices, waitrooms, inbetween classes, on the train/bus, etc)

If it's a holiday present/birthday present = laptop (amazing, play great shooters on PCs (which I love)) very versatile...and well...it's a computer!

Buying it yourself = DS...I've had one for like 3 years. I loved it and still do but I've moved onto shooters and Xbox.

because of the fact the you own sapphire and you choose to play pokemon HG, i could get the DS lite. it truly is greater low value than the DSi. you may play innovations age, and so on. on the DS lite too. because of the fact the you basically desire a cheapish one to play the warm pokemon pastime, the DS lite is the dazzling one for you. its truly inexpensive now via employing DSi and XL. and it has the GBA slot. i could basically get the DSi over the DS lite in case you fairly enjoyed taking photos and distorting it and recording voices and distorting them. via employing fact thats probable the only subject concerns that make the DSi greater suitable than the DS lite. yet you may take photos and checklist voices with a digital digicam and computing gadget, respectively.
