What's wrong with the Guild Wars 2 servers?

I've been trying to log on now for almost an hour, and keep getting the same error.

"The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com."


Is this gonna get fixed, cause I'm pretty pissed at the fact that I've been wating months, and it finally releases to not being able to login

same issue. I am running parallels on my desktop. trying to resolve it now. but sounds like server side problem and they might be doing maintenance. Bad first impression... They should have prepared for that IMO, esp on launch day lol.... always over prepare. But whatever, it happens.

Also appears when there are server problems on ArenaNet's side, such as too much traffic.

I have all my firewall settings off and a pretty boss sauce router with all the correct settings too, so I am 99% sure its server side. Also running bootcamp for mac, but doubt that matters.

100% sure this is a server side issue. Most MMO's have some sort of glitch at the beginning and end up working to fix it to the frustration of their clients.



Server load tests? SWTOR did that and still got overwhelmed at the preview launch. I'm sure there are people at ArenaNet running around with their hair on fire right now. That picture kind of comforts me a little as I endlessly retype my password to try and log in only to get the error again and again.



Ok, maybe not... so then the decision is do I play WoW or STWOR for the next few hours.

The login servers are so packed with people that nobody else is able to log in at this time. I'm having the same problem and it's really frustrating, but ArenaNet stated they will work on the problem. Hopefully this is fixed soon.

Well my game is working fine, but every time I try to join World vs World it gives me the same exact error. I can log in and everything, even play the game perfectly fine, but I just want to go into WvW so bad! I have AVG and Comodo. I disabled Comodo, AVG and my Windows Firewall but still nothing.

I was playing for 4 hours earlier when I suddenly d/c'd and then could not even connect to the server. I finally tried shutting off my windows firewall and this seems to have fixed it. *fingers crossed*



*judging by the world chat when I got in game, my attempt to fix it may have just been epic timing*

I had the same issue. But I found out how to fix it easily. I have AVG, and if you have it as well or any other anti-virus you just have to go into the exceptions, and find the Guild wars 2 clint and add it. Then the message won't pop up.

Sorry I ask a question under your one, but it will be visited more than my I think.

I bought Deluxe Edition, started the game, took Norn, Guardian, created him as I wanted him to be... and he was not exactly the one I wanted ( another hairstyle would be nicer... ) So I deleted him - 20 minutes of gameplay is not so much - I spent them on gettin used to the game anyway... I noticed the MAIL icon in upper left corner so I clicked it - Deluxe Itanzzz!

Did not mind - deleted my big buddy, made him again (now he's just like in my dreams I dreamt last month) and he received Golem Banker, he has got his Elite Mistfire Skill and... well - he has got no Rythlock nor Influence Tome.

I tried to contact support (anyone knows how long does it take to get response?) and there I read Rytlock is generated once per account, not per character. Same Influence Tome - ok, I get it - one Brimstone per account - for one char only. I can accept that as I'm not planing on having full slots of characters, just one. So I'd like to have that Mini I payed for as n1 said I cannot delete character I don't want if I want to keep Deluxe Bonuses.

How do you think? Will support help me or I just lost money? In poland it is like 150PLN - 50 USD - A LOT FOR POLISH as for paying for not real thing.

Yea im getting the same message as well i thought it was me or something.. but now even the connection problem message dont pop up now im getting "connection error(s) detected retrying" i cant even get on the log in screen now... is anyone having the same problem?

They just turned it on fully, there will be connectivity issues for a day or so, and again when the headstart ends and everyone joins in.

I had this same problem as well but for me it was just because I forgot to actually activate my e-mail address in the e-mail they sent me with a link =P
