Starbucks isn't free, they require a tmobile account (or you pay for a pass), McDonald's isn't free (it requires an AT&T account...or a pass). However, I noticed a couple places in town with free WiFi, including Panera Bread and a Mexican food place (fast food) in town (they had a sign in the window).

Look around town, you'll find a place.

Many cafes and coffee shops usually have a wi-fi sign on their doors or around the building. there's a Panera near where I live and I've used their wireless service before. Most college and university campuses will have wireless in the lobbies of the dorms, around every lecture hall building and at their libraries. Public libraries may also have wireless available.

simply go to a nearby store that uses a lot of electricity like best buy, ciruit city etc. u can also use wiFi service from nearby building that support that kind of connection n connect. i know this because i have a ipod touch that requires wifi in order to get axis to the internet. Around my place i get very little conection so what i do is i go to places that uses electicity daily.

There are many cafe's and book stores that offer free Wifi. Some of the popular ones include Starbucks which offers TMobile Hotspot. Local restaurants also offer this kind of access. Ask the owner or look for a sign. Also if you attend a University there may also be free WiFi around your area. If all else fails experiment with your location. You may be able to glean an unsuspecting person's personal wireless Internet! Good luck!

The Corner Bakery offers free WiFi, as do many hotels. The catch with the hotels is that you have to be a registered guest in order to be given the password. So in reality, they aren't actually free. Some Barnes and Nobles stores offer A T & T WiFi, but you probably have to pay a fee. Contrary to popular belief (as you can see from some of the other answers), Mc Donald's and Starbucks DON'T offer FREE WiFi. At Starbucks, a 24-hour pass through T-Mobile is about $10.00; and at McDonald's, you will pay about $2.95 for 2 hours' access. The problem with McDonald's is that they lack electrical outlets, so, unless the battery in your laptop lasts at least 2 hours, you will be losing some of the money you pay.

Good luck!

Best way to find out is turn on your computer and it's WiFi and see if any signals are available. Then see if you can get on without a pass word. WARNING In some areas there are open (no pass word needed WiFi connections) available, but cops are watching, or are called when some one is sitting in there car on a lap top, and they come and arrest you for stealling the signal. Chicago area, areas in California, and Washington. Good places to stael a connection are around Hotels that have the FREE WiFi on their sign, fast food places, and cafes. You could also try around apartment complexes, and housing develpoments. Some Truck Stops have free WiFi, but most charge. Some rest areas in Texas and Iowa have free WiFi, as do some Air Ports.

EB Games offers Free WiFi for the nintendo ds at almost all there stores.

see

www.ebgames.com

or

www.ebgames.com.au

Also

Mcdonalds charges a fee(the purchase of at least 1 meal in most countries) to use the wifi. (But it is not designed for just the nintendo DS, where as the EB Games WiFi is solely for the Nintendo DS)

Anyone who says Starbucks is misinformed. Starbucks requires you to pay through T-Mobile for the service.

Some, though not all, McDonalds and Burger Kings have free WIFI. I drove around my neighborhood with a friend. She held my laptop and checked for wireless signals. When we found a good strong one, we made a note of it. I then went back to see where the best connections were. This works if you just want to sit in the parking lot and use your battery.

If you want to plug in though, you'll likely have to buy something, even just a cup of coffee.

If you were in Houston, I could name some specific places for you.

Purchase something from the café providing the hotspot. Minimum rule of thumb is at least 1 coffee per hour. If you're working on WiFi in a venue please ask for permission before accessing a power point for your laptop and don’t be offended if refused. If you plan on regularly accessing the Internet for longer than 15 minutes at a café try to time your visits to be during less busy periods. Typically 9am-11am or 2pm-4pm. If you have been online for greater than 1 hour and the venue becomes busy please move on and relinquish your table for other customers.

Wal-Mart and Best Buy both sell a key chain sized WiFi detector for about $20. It will pick up an internet connection up as you pass by houses or buildings. It's great because it's so small and handy and you don't have to power up your game just to check it out.

The Airport, it has the fastest wifi make sure you find the router here in the airport near my place I know the exact position of all the 30 routers and there is one router which is the best!

Just make sure you dont stay there too long maybe an hour and then take a stroll

There are few boys and girls who come here and sit down just to play , some download music from limewire and movies.

And its fast!

You can get them at wifi-cafes, hotels, some other resturants, and sometimes if you nebor has wifi internet you can get your laptop to hook up to their internet. depending on if its a secured network or not. Most citys will have a wifi connection because of all the peple with wifi routers in the area which you could hook up to as long as its not secured (protected by a password)

xD Yea. You can get one at a bunch of hotspots at restaurants and at some places that offer it. Coffee shops are a great place, and some Mc Donalds and Burger King stores are offering Wi Fi. I would suggest getting a nintendo usb wi fi connector though instead of snagging your neighbors or an actual wi fi router. Chances are that the signal is going to be really bad most of the time if you steal your neighbors wi fi, ultimately lagging your gaming experience (which, I know from experience. lol. I used to do it x3) The usb connector is only about 30 or 40 bucks, but it's not better than actually getting a wi fi router yourself. I hope I helped.

Wi fi is just like a smal network for home of office, one has to be seted up and then u can use it, Generaly people put a key or password so that there naibour will not get access to it even if they r getting the signals, Roughly range is 35 Meters. Well u can take BT openzone account it is much like Wi Max which is available in most of the places you can check if you r getting signals to openzone, just buy a account with them and get connected to internat with no installation of broad band at ur home....

That is impossible. The only way you can get a free connection is if you go to an area with WiFi like a coffee shop or restaurant. So i suggest you buy a laptop. Go get a Lenovo laptop, its a great laptop at a good price. I always bring it with me and go to a coffee shop and play DoTA. Works great :)

Well if your willing to invest in a wireless router, then that takes care of that. I have one, and it works extremely well (using it to answer this). However, if you don't want to spend the money, then you simply could go to Starbucks being that they have free wi-fi, or McDonalds, because they are now installing wi-fi. Not all McDonalds will have it, but some will. Starbucks always has it, so thats your best bet.

If you are looking nice ideas for woodworking i can suggest you to check here ( woodworkingplans.kyma.info ) It's perfect if you are just starting out or if you're a seasoned carpenter. you will like it for sure! It has almost 20.000 woodworking plans and you have a CAD/DWG software to view and edit the plans. You have step-by-step instructions with photos and high quality blueprints and schematics. If you are a beginner this is the easiest way to start your woodworking projects, and if you already have experience you can anyway find a lot of interesting ideas!

Its easier to have your own wi-fi connection. Because even if you find a free connection, the person in charge of it has the ability to not let you use it. So its much easier to have your own. Just buy the wi-fi software and USB wi-fi connecter at a game store or something. Mine was only 20$, and brand new too.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.

Well, first you could try and see if there are any open (unsecured) connections in your neighborhood, though some people might not like you using this method. . Then you could try any of the Wi-Fi spot finders in your area. See links below.

Also, install NetStumbler (free) on your laptop to see what networks in your area are available.

Sometimes there is Hotspts, like at stores, resturants, Parks, etc., usually they will have a sign saying they have WiFi. If your device has a setting that can "scan" the area for available networks you can access, then you can do that also.

Have a friend drive you through neighborhoods near your house at about 10 mph. Sit in the passenger seat and wait until you recieve a signal. With any luck, you'll be able to find multiple hot spots, which you can then label on a map within your car. This way, if you ever need some internet, you can find the quickest internet wifi hotspot relative to your current position.

Also, any school campus should have free wifi.

Wi-Fi is free. It is free in terms of you don't have to pay monthly unlike some online experiences like Xbox Live. You will, however need to buy a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector if you do not have a wireless router. If you have a wireless router, you will be able to get the connection using the "Search for an Access Point." If you are having trouble with connecting, go to Ninteno.com. Make sure you don't have ZoneAlarm Firewall on your computer or else the Wi-Fi connection will be completely incompatible. You will need to uninstall if this is the case.

If you look online, there's some way you can access neighbor's wifi (=P) or build your own using a pringles can...

Also, many restaurants like Panera Bread, Atlanta Bread, Moe's, etc. offer free wi-fi inside, so you will often see people with their computers in these restaurants.
Mr. Awesome!
2008-04-18 22:23:37 UTC
Lots of coffee shops and the like offer free WiFi. If you have a wireless ready laptop, trying searching for networks at home. One of your neighbors might be broadcasting a free signal you could pick up on. Be careful though, open wireless networks make it easy for hackers to access your computer. I don't think it's likely, but it's a possibility.

Many of the old places that used to have free wifi have teamed up with AT&T and are going to start to charge for the service like McDonalds, and soon Starbucks. A few places that haven't are Paneras, your local library, and Starbucks (its still free for now, but not for too much longer). Try to do a google search for wifi spots in your local area.

Another alternative is to get a wireless stick for your computer that you just plug in, and it sends a signal out that only DS's and Wii's can use.

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DS-Wi-Fi-USB-Connector/dp/B000MXMNG4/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1208581036&sr=8-1

Yes, depending where you live... Starbucks in the US suck--as someone pointed out, you need a T-Mobile account... and the same goes out for MacDonald... but interesting you can ask for complimentary Internet at some locations.

Otherwise, just let your computer search for connections...

Any restuarant or public place usually always has a wireless connection. Starbucks and McDonalds are very popular choices. You could always use your neighbors if they don't have a security key to lock it. It's free all the time so don't worry about getting charges.

You can get free wifi where theres a router. It doesnt even have to be your router if can be a neighbors or someone.Plus you can get wifi from your house even, if your neighbor or someone has a router. If no one has one around you then i suggest buy one or go to store that have them like star bucks.

You can get free Wi-Fi Connection at McDonalds, and if you would like one at home, buy one of these:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6750392/Trail/searchtext%3EBELKIN.htm

And you should get one of these free:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6754271/Trail/searchtext%3EBELKIN+USB.htm

They are really good if you want to do gaming at home, and remember, you get usb FREE if you buy the port, and if you just have the usb, it don't work.
