I'm a PC gamer, today I connected my PC to 32 inch TV which isn't actually that big, launched GTA IV and set the resolution to 1280x720p (which is native resolution of console games I think) damn it looked terrible. I don't imagine playing with graphics like this, but I wanted to buy xbox360 just for GTAV. Do consoles atleast got Anti-Alliasing or something because PC games on TV with low resolutions look really bad?

The console versions of gta 4 have 4x aa, while the pc version has no aa(total mystery as to why, unless its been patched in since launch). The console versions will look better than pc version at that resolution, so don't worry about that.

And generally, the bigger the screen, the worse it looks due to image stretching to fit the screen. But a good quality 42" 1080p tv will always look better than a cheap quality 32" 1080p tv.

How are you connecting your pc to your tv? Because if it isn't through dvi or hdmi, then you aren't even seeing what the tv is capable of, assuming you're using a hd tv. (vga comes close, but not quite since it's analog). Also, if your tv isn't even 720p, then your tv is downscaling it to its maximum supported resolution, which would further reduce the quality.

the version isn't too a lot, even if an HDTV is better ideal on occasion. I too am attempting to get a Xbox 360 yet I have performed one at my pal's abode who has a ~24" exhibit and it appears that evidently ok yet I have heard that the intense Def is way better ideal. Get both the hot alterations of the right type console or the Elite (massive money on the Elite) in case you do plan on getting a HD-television contained in the close to destiny because even even if HD-TVs should be hooked as a lot as a VCR and performed an HDMI cord and port are there on those fashions so it may visit the television and in no way go via the VCR, which has fuzzed up the photos on my acquaintances television only a hair, no longer something severe. All i will claim for a playstation is i wish you've exciting with the 360, the most suitable console for sale!

Older games may look bad, but if you have a high def tv with a high def console the newer games look insanely clean. I understand your frustration in trying to play older games on a new tv/system. It does nothing for the graphics at all. I tried to play Homeworld on a 42" and it was bad, oh so bad. If you do get a 360, make sure your tv is HDMI compatible or at least has HiDef (1080p) rca cables. The 360 has some very sick graphics when hooked up through HDMI. As for older games from the pre 1080p era, forget about trying to get their graphics to look good. It's impossible.

funny as it may sound, I still play unreal tournament on a pc and the graphics are very good considering how old the game is....and I use a Sony 32 tv / monitor .

Have you checked settings for the game other than the screen resolution ?
