Everquest..Why wont he stop playing it?

Question

Can someone please tell me what is soo addicting about Everquest. All I know is that it is an online game. My Hubby is addicted to this game. I will come home from work and school at 11pm and he will be sitting there playing the game. If I ask him for help or If I need something or If I am lying flat dead on the floor, he wont help me because the game is O SOO important and if he stops he will die and piss people off. Why is it soo addicting and is it possible to get him to stop playing?
He even says the game is more important then sex....Now is he a new generation of male?

Well, I can give you some insight from the other side of the situation. I went through a rough time in my life several years ago and totally immersed myself into Everquest. I was unemployed and would play for 16 to 20 Hours a day... almost every day. It was a total realism escape for me.

I would fall asleep while playing and wake up to find everyone in my group was dead. Eyes hurt constantly. Butt sore. Friendships suffered. Car repossessed. Was definitely a low point in my life.

The addictive nature of the game for me was being part of a "team" for lack of a better word at the moment. Everyone in your "group" has a purpose and they are good at what they do. You can accomplish great things as a group or with multiple groups of hundreds of players working towards a common goal. It is a totally different World. You can be or do whatever you want within the parameters of the game. Just typing about it makes me want to play again...lol But I know better.

It took some tough Love to get me to quit. My girlfriend at the time, now my wife, kinda laid it out there and gave me a few options. She helped me find a job and put me in motion towards getting back on my feet. I swear it was like quitting a drug... I quit cold turkey. It was all I could think about for weeks. So happy it is over and I never plan to travel down that road ever again. I know that there are a lot of Everquest widows out there...there are even support groups online. Wouldn`t surprise me if sometime soon we`ll see a wing of the Betty Ford Clinic dedicated to this very thing. Yes, unfortunately this is a new generation of males!! Everquest is a fun game, but not more important than you!! I would be pissed if I were you, and you should put your foot down on such foolishness!! I mean let the man play but you two should talk about what's important in REAL life.

I was a slave to Evercrack for a year along with my boyfriend and he was just insane! Sometimes he would make me call a cab rather that pick me up from work. Sometimes he'd sit on the couch for up to 10 hours at a time. He even invited two people from his guild Evolution to my house ...very strange. Some day he will quit but if you can't wait I'd do something drastic like tell him to buy a PS2 or another comp so you can play with him. It worked for me......

Oh wow. i think you should tell this guy that its the game or you. im so sorry. i dated a guy one time who played that game. Guys play and get addicted to these fantasy or rpg (role playing games) when they arent happy with something in their lives. It like sucks them in. even if they are happy.. after playign the game a while... they realize there are problems in their lives. People can have the life in this game.. that they cant have in real life. He could have a girlfriend on the game or even a different wife on the game. i know it sounds stupid but my ex played.. and yeah it was sick. I wasnt his gf. he had gfs on the game. and wifes and families on the game. that was better.. he was happier with that. im glad i left him....

better then sex? get a new man cause that one went over to the nerd side... i love video games. spent 600$ on a ps3. but if my girlfriend wanted me and i was in the middle of a game (online or not) i would throw the controller and. fire my meat missle

well, i have one serious question. your hubby is a man, right? yeah, thats whats so important. he and my b/f should get together and play annoying video games that make me want to vomit!!
