I've been playing Guilds Wars for about 7 monthes with no problems, not even a little lag. But now, I went to an area called "Rata Sum" (just a town, not really important) and logged out when i was done there. Now when I try to load that character, it says there is a "fatal graphics card error" and terminates the game. I can still play all my other characters, though I can't get into the character in Rata Sum. Help please?

This seems like a serious issue. Send an email to Guild Wars support and they will try to help you. I also recommend updating your video card drivers. If nothing works, reinstall the game.

At lot of this relies upon on a query you probably did no longer answer: what style of card will your laptop cope with? (i'm sticking to ATI as a results of fact it is the cardboard sequence i understand maximum suitable - yet an equivelent NVidia is merely as sturdy) in case you have PCI convey, that's maximum suitable with very almost any card. funds clever, the $a hundred or so card is the main suitable guess on the 2nd, as a results of fact spending extra is silly with the DirecX 10 playing cards comming out quickly. in case you may wait until February next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, they are going to be a extra powerful deal although. in case you have AGP or standard PCI, something alongside the strains of the Radeon 9550 with 256 MB RAM is the main suitable deal. They do make bigger ended playing cards (like the X1600) in those codecs, yet they have an inclination to be stricken by "Bus Crunch", that's the cardboard is able to better pics then the AGP or PCI bus is able to deal with. This ends up in spectacular finding pics, yet at a slow physique fee. What you may desire to do is adventure the main suitable high quality card, to what your laptop can cope with. And except your laptop is rapid sufficient and has sufficient memory, even the quickest video card will do you no sturdy.

i've had your same problem

now this error is actually random, since i lost a good character, yet when i went thru with the same character with the same spells and ALMOST same items, i never ran into the error

best advice i can give you is try another character, that 1 is lost

also, i've heard that updating graphics drivers and updating the game can solve the issue and recover the character but i have had no luck following that advice
