Ok this going to be long and sorry if I'm sounding bossy

I want to create a game but I have NEVER programmed before and have never made a game or a level before

So the question/s

- what code should I use (remember I have never coded before
- why should I use that code
-where can I learn that code ( I want video tutorials please)
- the videos. Should be for COMPLEATE NO PROGRAMING/ GAME MAKING EXPERIENCE EVER PLUS IN A SERIS.
- it could be 2d or 3d ( which ever is easier for begginers
- where do I get graphics from

Thanks

Hi Juj,

Let's see:

1. Professional programmers generally code in C, C+ or C#. I have no idea why one of the other posters says java as that's more for webgames than anything.

2. The best way to learn is through books, so just order a C Programming one from Amazon. You can find videos on Youtube to help but having a book in front of you will be more effective. Having someone talk you through programming doesn't make sense to me, it's that complex. It's a LOT of work to learn and heavy on mathematics.

3. You can always get a game making program like Unity 3D, Game Maker or Construct 2. These have existing engines and even assets for you to use.

4. Graphics are made by artists, using the likes of 3DS Max for models and photoshop for actual art.

5. Watch the attached episode of Extra Credits for more information on becoming a programmer.

There are many, many ways to get into making games. I can recommend starting with a few little projects in RPG Maker XP or VX. It's a 2D object orientated engine with a very simple-to-learn script language called RGSS2/3. It's not a valuable scripting language for game production but once you've learned your first, more complex ones are a lot easier to learn. If you want to learn a more valuable language, I recommend C++ or C#. They're the most valid game development languages and are valuable for beginners making games alone and in big game studios.

Graphics, scripts, sounds and music are all available for free online - just search for RMXP or RMVX resources. After making a few projects in RMXP, take a look at Unity or CryEngine and play around with some 3D stuff. Blender is a free and easy to use 3D modelling and animation software; use video tutorials to throw some characters together and make a super simple 3D game. By then, you should know what you want to pursue next.

1) You'll need to learn Java Coding and JavaScript Coding to make a game. Maybe a bit of HTML and CSS5. If you have never coded before it'll be hard. Use a programme like Eclipse to code it on.

2) Find out on youtube; look for tutorials

3) 2D Is wayyyyy easier. 3D is very hard for intermediates let alone beginners! You should go with 2D

4) You'll need to buy a software like Sony Vegas/ a graphics software so you can make graphics or hire a graphics programmer who'll do the job for you.

Hope I helped :D

to be fair if you want to make a professional game and you want to publish it and play it then you will want to purchase a gamemaker pack it has everything you have asked for above in it,

the starter pack is only 49.99 and can be used on a mac or windows and also Microsoft.

The professional pack to make better games is 99.99 and can be used on anything to make awesome reality fun games.

Then the big daddy is the master collection which is suppose to be awesome and amazing with more features than ever only at 499.99.

These are all amazing, you can test games, make brilliant games and graphics publish them on the android app store or online and you can chose if its 2d or 3d and radomise settings and the aim of the game, to make a game like temple run or something.

even though its not free this is probably the best option for you.
