World of Warcraft is leading that market .......but there are a few more coming out. Vanguard is out now but has a few bugs and is a resource hog. Warhammer will be out this winter and its supposed to be a big hit. Guild Wars is out and is free monthly subscription.

World of warcraft blows, worst game ever. Play Ragnarok Online, Rose Evolution online, Rappelz Epic III (free!), or SW Galaxies.
Anybody who likes WoW has no taste, Blizzard sucks in general since Diablo II.
Ragnarok online won MMORPG of the year and Best Game play with one major gaming magazine. World of Warcraft was not even close to second or third. We had a double xp victory weekend because of that in january or february.

Depends. I like playing Living Greyhawk and have considered using Open RPG.
If you mean MMORPG, then I'd give nods to City of Heroes (unique genre), Eve Online (doesn't get enough credit). The most popular is probably World of Warcraft, cartoony (lower system requirements) easier to play and more intuitive (it's Blizzard after all) in a popular (Warcraft) setting.

I think that's a idiosyncratic choise. Right now, my favorite online game is FallenSword, a free browser based MMORPG. I like it's guild system cause it stimulates interaction, i like the lottery and the auction mechanisms and i like it because it doesn't get lagged. But who knows for how long i'll enjoy playing it? MMORPG tend to get repetitive after a while. Give it a try.
See you.

World of Warcraft. Period. The only other one I would consider is Everquest 2, but the graphics are not nearly as good, and classes are not as well defined. Guild Wars is good for PVP, but not role-playing or questing, IMHO.

I suggest Guild Wars. It is free per month, but you have to buy the campaign (ranges between 29.99 and 49.99 depending on the retailer and the campaign). You can go to their website http://www.guildwars.com and download the campaign you'd like to try out for 10 hrs and then if you like it you can buy it. It is a very fun game, and they offer quite a lot for what you pay for. And, as it states they will never charge per month (LOVE THIS!).
I used to play FFXI which does charge per month, takes hours to get anything accomplished and is full of little loot whores and people who hate their RL so treat in-game players like #($*$.
I'm quite happy with GW and think it is the best. :)

There are only really two Guild wars and World of Warcraft
out of the two, world of warcraft is perhaps better although you have to pay a monthly fee. Although world of waracrafts pvp is no way near as good as guild wars
So really, do want more pve or pvp

Well, a good suggestion is Guild Wars in which you don't have to pay each month and it has the best PvP(player v/s player) system. Then lineage 2 is another suggestion (it has a variety of free-private servers). Finally if you are bored of killing dragons in dungeons:P try E.V.E on-line.Finally WoW is the best selling mmorpg.
*note that L2 and wow require grinding (killing monsters-killing monsters-killing monsters...lvl!!!..killing monsters...)
