Should I buy an Xbox 360 wireless router for the Xbox 360. Im looking at this Xbox 360 Wireless router...it goes for $100, which is an excessive amount of money. Furthermore, I have rather crappy internet (low end DSL). I want to play COD4 with my friend on Xboxlive because he lives in Iowa. I have 2 major questions: 1. Will Xbox live work effectively on the router and internet i am using (not alot of lag, smooth, and playable).
And 2. Is there a cheaper wireless router i can buy?

P.S. Is it true Wireless internet speed is much slower than that of an Ethernet chord, will it affect my gameplay????.

PLEASE HELP THANKS ALOT!

First things first. Make sure you say wireless adapter, not router, they are 2 different things and people will get confused.

If you have a crappy internet, don't get the wireless adapter. I have a pretty good high speed internet, and it is really frustrating when the connection times out on COD4.

Of course, its all up to you. If you don't mind a huge ethernet cable through your house(or short one if your modem is nearby) then go for it. Wireless is more convenient, but if you have a crappy internet, you might be annoyed.

The thing about wireless internet speed is true, depending on how far you are from your router. If you are 10- 20 feet away, the signal is very strong. If you have a lot of walls in the way, or if it is on a different floor, it runs very slow.

SINCE YOU SAID IT IS 20-30 FEET AWAY WITH 2 WALLS IN BEETWEEN, I WOULD GO WITH AN ETHERNET CABLE.

The reason is I have a good wireless (wireless g) router with high speed internet 20-30 feet away with 1 one wall in between and it gets so annoying when the connection times out!!!!

If your internet speed (ie. your uplink and downlink speed from your home to the ISP) is low (I consider 512K ADSL as low), it makes no different whether you use wireless or not. It will still be slow. I believe you are thinking of buying the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter and not the router. This adapter supports up to 54Mbps speed (ie. IEEE 802.11g) so if you have a wireless router that support 802.11g and your internet speed is fast (at least 2Mbps), then your wireless gaming experience will be good.

easily, i does not difficulty about it too a lot. i'm nevertheless making use of a G router and that i had 5 laptops operating on an analogous router (I lived in an apartment) as my 360 and it worked effective. once you're searching for more effective ideal signal capacity then i could attempt to remove different hindrances the signal may ought to commute by capacity of to get to you. also, the closer that's the more effective ideal. keep the money you'll spend on a clean router and purchase a clean sport! desire this enables.

are you talking about the wireless adapter for xbox360? your internet will be slower than what your network is capable of. DSL can be slow at times but should work fine for online play.

it makes your connection a lot better and gets rid of the hassle of an ethernet cable. but the downside is it is like 90 bucks.
