I'm looking for some good games to run on my old laptop to kill a lot of time (5-6 hours at times).
It's all I've got at the moment and I'm trying to make the best out of what I have and getting tired of crappy flash games.
Specs:
Dell Latitude E5400
Win XP SP3 v2002
Intel Pentium 4 2.16 GHz
980 MB RAM (odd number no?)
On board GFX (not as horrible as I'd expect)

Most recent game I've run is COD:Modern Warfare (Couldn't handle World at War)
I do run World of Warcraft but its gotten REALLY dull.
Genres:
FPS (love sniping)
RPG (more action the better)
Open World games are always fun to see but gameplay/story has to be there too.

Thx for any input.

Wow, that doesn't sound like old :) Don't listen to the people who WONT come up with the money to buy you a new laptop! You can play a TON of games in your laptop!

Your RAM is more than acceptable! Listen, I just installed Zork Grand Inquisitor in my husband's Acer laptop that runs at 2.1Ghz. I also installed DosBox and many DOS games, also you can try Gameboy and N64 emulators with some games. I put them there since we have both consoles, all the games that we own are also on the PC :) I'm also planning to install an SNES emulator with the games we own. Can't get rid of the console they're too much fun! :D

But down to the basics, go to a site like MobyGames and look up games you can run in DOSBOX. The one I mentioned above doesn't even need DOSBOX just a lot of patience to install, I'm giving you a link to the Zork Library they have a step by step install guide, they are moving their content now but check later. You can also run Zork Nemesis according to their guide :)

The DOSBOX games I've played:

The Infernal Tome - see walkthrough link below!

Creature Shock

Return To Zork

Breakfree - see download link below!

I hope this helps!!! Good luck and your laptop is not old!!!!

don't pay for new games, pay for the better laptop :-)

well, i suggest eMachines brand, their machines are monsters with low prices.

-Great! now you can play a TON of...DOS games on your computer. Feel free to explore the world of...Black-and-White game!!!
