This may sound like a dumb question, but do MMORPGs have any kind of story that gets showcased during the game?

Like with regular RPGs, there are cinematic cut scenes that further help story the game, do MMORPGs have that?

I have always wanted to play them but have either been stopped by money, bad computer, fear of talking to people, and many small other things.

I REALLY want to play Aion when it comes out—but if all I do is fight with no kind of story telling element then what’s the point!? I like to see pretty movies too!!! >) {I'm a visual whore!}

P.S. I’ve only played Guild Wars and I’ve only played for a capped total of like 3 hours so… that’s my only experience with MMORPGs!!

Experienced people, please help! ^_^

I've never played Aion but if you really like the cinematic, then I would stick with Guild Wars, for they have the best graphics out there. Though I felt that after a while, I wanted to do more from it after capping several to the max level and getting the best gear and weapons for them. To me, I just wasn't satisified with it, though it was my favorite game for a long while, until I started to search for something better.

If you are over 18, there is also Conan, but the cut scenes are short and really consist of you going up to someone and the cut scene is someone struggling or turning around. The story and gameplay are really bad so I wouldn't really suggest Conan, also because they failed at everything they promised. Even going to www.failcom.com will take you to the Conan site.

Hellgate all around has really good graphics, but no cinematics, but a great story line. Just not alot of people play it online. It has two modes, one where you can just play by yourself, without ever hooking up to the internet or play online for free, with other people. But hardly anyone ever plays it online.

The only other one I've really played, and liked, is World of Warcraft. Great stories, easy to understand gameplay, easy to get into.

Warhammer will be out soon, there is alot of hipe about that. I don't know about the cut scenes but the graphics look great. Hopefully the story and gameplay will be great as well.

Well I don't know about Aion but I do know that Guild Wars has scenes like that. But since you've played it you probably know that. WoW doesn't seem to, from what I've seen. I prefer Guild Wars. I love it actually. And the fact that there's no monthly fee it's great. I'd put some more time into it while you're waiting. I personally like the Diablo series as well, but I don't like the online feature of it because people can kill you and loot your stuff if you let them. Even if you don't let them when you die you lose your stuff if someone is playing with you and not honest. I agree with you though, I like the cut scenes too except when they're too long. Sometimes I'd rather get on with the game. Aion looks good and since it's by NC Soft it will probably have some cut scenes as well. I might try it and pay for it for a bit to decide if it's any good. I can always cancel the subscription if it's bad.

I play WoW, and they do not have cut scenes with cinematics. However, every quest line does have a story, and some of them are pretty intense. If you have back knowledge of Warcraft lore, you'll see how everything ties in together. It can be pretty interesting.

it rather is asked almost on an conventional basis, searching for previous questions ought to rather save this crap. That being reported: attempt Rappelz, think of online, Gunbound. you are able to seek mmog checklist and a set will ensue.
