Here's how to fix the incompatible magic type error:

2) Downgrade your version of Java to 1.6.41 for compatibility:

1. Right-click in the bottom left corner of your screen (a menu should appear from which you can choose Programs and Features)

If that option isn't in the menu for some reason, choose Control Panel and head to Programs and Features from there (if you're viewing the Control Panel by category, it's found in the Programs category)

2. Go to Add/Remove programs

3. Uninstall ALL versions of Java

4. Remove any item with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.

5. Visit the Java (v6.41) website here: http://java.***/en/download/manual_v6.jsp

6. Accept the License Agreement (At your discretion)

7. Choose the link related to your operating system. (‘Windows x86 Offline’ for all windows machines)

8. Install the update

9. Once installed, restart your computer

I have the same error message but going to a different application. I am on a Windows Vista PC. Uninstalled and reinstalled and still did not work. Got the same error on my XP system but I reinstalled Java and then it asked if I wanted to update my Java Plug-in in Firefox which I did. Now it works on my XP PC. Never got got the question on my Vista PC if I wanted to update my Java Plug-ins for Firefox. Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and then the same for Java on my Vista PC again and still never got asked about the plug-in and still get the message. Reinstalling Java on you pc might help as it did on my XP.
