Skyrim Crashes on Startup?

Question

Ok, so ive been running Skyrim for more than 4 weeks now nearly every day and its never crashed before, but I just married Ysolda and went back to my house. I tried to wait in a chair, but then it crashed. I started skyrim back up and it crahsed before the menu. I updated my DirectX and changed my sound settings, but it crahsed again as soon as I left the house. please help?

Can u start a new game?



Can u load a save from earlier?



Obviously if it was working at one time, then your computer has the necessary specs to run the game (barring a component malfunction of some kind).



So step one would be (if u haven't already) is to try an earlier save. If this save also crashes, then try starting a completely new game.



If the above fails also, then try deleting these two files:

C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\my documents\my games\skyrim\skyrimprefs.ini

C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\my documents\my games\skyrim\skyrim.ini



Then try loading your saved game.



If everything still fails, then uninstall and reinstall the game completely.

I think they used to have a 4.0 GB RAM mod that lets you use all 4gb of your computer to play Skyrim. If you can find it and install the mod, it might be fixed. If that doesn't work, try to download the latest patch. As a last resort you should probably go to your Documents folder and copy the My Games folder to somewhere safe, like a USB. Then, delete all your Skyrim files and re-download the game.
