Why does PS3 have load times FAR longer than other systems?

So far every game I've played on the PS3 takes far longer to load than any other system.

Fight Night 3 was the first game I played and I thought it was pretty bad, then noticed the same load times with NBA 07, and worst of all: Def Jam Icon, which was just horrendous. It takes a full 40 secs for your fighters image to show up after you've selected his name and another 1 min to load up the level. What the heck?!!

I thought this was supposed to be "next generation" gaming! What's all the fancy expensive hardware for if the graphics aren't any better than the 360 and the load times are MUCH longer?

Generally it's EA's games, they don't take advantage of the hard drive to save on load times, the 360 is slightly faster on load times because the DVD drive is faster then a bluray drive. You won't notice really serious graphical differences between the 360 and the PS3 until 4 or 5 years from now. PS3 is still better.

They are more data and information to upload. Those pretty graphics take time to upload. The more detailed and the more life like the game the longer it takes to load. They have come a long way though. It seemed like it took an eternity to load on the PS1 and the PS2. That is the reason though there is a lot of information to load from those discs.

First, end being this sort of whiny little snot. 2nd, each and all the previous solutions on your question the 1st time have been thoroughly valid and suitable rendered. it is not our fault you're too obstinate to desire to hearken to human beings. the biggest perpetrator in sluggish downloads is often internet connection. so which you have the quickest internet connection on your united states of america. So? The quickest internet on your united states of america may be utter rubbish in comparison to somebody else's. you're additionally assuming that your internet up/down speeds are working at optimal performance one hundred% of the time. This on no account happens. in case you do no longer desire to get carry of it by your PS3, get a nicely suited USB tension and get carry of the replace from Sony's web site. From there, stick it on your PS3 and replace it that way. you will no longer want the internet then.

The ps3 had better hardware, and graphics. with all that extra goodness, its going to have a longer load period than say, a gamecube title. the "next generation" refers to the gameplay and graphics. which, in retrospect, was always what was being upgraded. so, better stuff, longer load. but i do agree. Icon takes forever!

I have noticed the long load times as well. Part of the issue is developers learning how to program for the new system. As they get better and learn how to optimize their code -> they should improve of load times.

Sony is using a 2x speed BD drive, working at 9 MB/second. The Xbox360 uses a 12x DVD drive, where transfer speeds are at 16 MB/second.

I hope your really wanted to know. Have a great day.
