Question:
Should I really buy World of Warcraft?
2008-10-09 10:01:59 UTC
I've played the trial account and it looks like a really cool game. I've played MapleStory for two years or so, and World of Warcraft seems like it's 100x better. I just don't want to get addicted to it. Should I buy the game? Would it be worth it?

Also, if I buy the game, what should I buy? Just the game itself, or the Burning Crusade Expansion pack also? Because I was looking into it and I found something called the 'Battle Chest Bundle'. Does the Battle Chest Bundle include an account?

Help would be appreciated! :)

Yeah, World of Warcraft is a lot of fun! It is really easy to get addicted though, especially if you have friends that also play and you want to catch up to them or stay around their level. It is pretty cheap to play, $15 a month, but you can make as many characters as you want on whatever servers you want too.

If you do want to play, I would buy the original game, and only get The Burning Crusade if you really want to make a Blood Elf or Draenei character (those two races are only available through Burning Crusade). The newest expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, is coming out on November 13, which adds a lot more content and raises the max level to 80.

The Battle Chest Bundle is a pretty good deal. You don't actually need the strategy guides, as you can find all the information you need online, but they would be nice to have so you don't have to minimize the game to look stuff up all the time.

If you have a lot of free time to play, and don't mind paying $15 a month, I really suggest it! Its a lot of fun, me and a bunch of my friends all play together, which makes it even more fun.

If you do decide to play, send me an email and we can do the Recruit-a-Friend option. That way, we both get experience bonuses when playing to level up quicker and get a free mount!

Do you usually get addicted to games? WoW is just like any other game, and the people who get "addicted" to it are the ones who are dissatisfied in their real lives. If that describes you, maybe you should reconsider it, but don't take all this "my boyfriend plays WoW instead of spending time with me" crap to heart.

The game is great fun. I've been playing since 2005 and love it. I think $15 a month, which is the cost of one movie ticket and popcorn anymore, is definitely worth it as far as cost vs. entertainment.

The Battle Chest Bundle is a good deal. You get the base game, the Burning Crusade expansion pack, and the two strategy guides. Those will be very helpful until you get used to the game and start using sites like Thottbot. The next expansion pack comes out November 13 (Wrath of the Lich King).

Each game has a unique key which you use when creating your account. It becomes tied to your user name so they know you have legal versions of both games. You get a free month of gameplay too.

Yes buy it.. Buy the bundle package.. especially since a new expansion is coming out in November.. but at least with those two you will be able to get a good start on things.

Im adicted.. I use to play 20 hours a day when I wasnt working, now, I play far far far less. somedays I dont play at all, But I love it. I love the people there the story behind it and all of my characters, I play both horde and alliance on a number of servers..

if you need tips friend me. :D Ill help you out! ALSO.. if you get it.. id recomend doing a refer a friend thing to start..

for 90 days or until you have at least 1 lvl 60 character you get tripple experience for playing with your friend, you get to summon from anywhere for the person linked with you., and there are a LOT of people on the world of warcraft site looking for friends to do this with.. iut gives you a huge boost on the game.

I started a secondary account to do the refer a friend thing and my friend and I leveled a toon to 55 in 13 hours, and are in the process of leveling 2 more each (we can do as many as we want for the 90 days as long as they dont hit 60).

I can't tell you whether or not to buy something it's your money and your choice. I can tell you it is by far the most popular MMORPG on the market with over 7 million active subscribers. I have personally been playing WoW for more years than I care to think about and have so far not grown bored with the game. It contains elements of Player vs Environment and Player vs Player. It has a rich lore and although the graphics aren't as good as say, Elder Scrolls Online the graphics are good enough to suck you into the game. It is highly addictive and very social. It is not just my favorite MMORPG but it is my favorite form of entertainment. Before shelling out your money though why don't you download it for free and play the first few levels to get a taste for it and decide for yourself if you like it or not. And yes you have to pay a subscription to play.

As a now professional gamer, and leader/co-founder of one of the current top ranking guilds on WoW, I can attest to what that guy said about the Zygor guides from that website http://www.zygorguides.pcti-system.com .. When I first started using them, is when I started taking my WoW gaming to a whole new level. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. As advanced as I am now, I still use them as an awesome reference/aid. Highly recommended if you're serious about being an accomplished WoW gamer, or just a newb looking to quickly learn the ropes and advance. On a side note, I am looking forward to the Warlords of Draenor expansion coming in November, and the updated guide to go along with it. Should be epic.

yes get it, and get the BC expansion since . There will be another expansion available on Nov 13 (which BTW i can not wait for)

its a fun game to play, there is a possibility you will get addicted, but if you have control of yourself, then there should be no problem.

If you get in a good guild (which i admit will be a bit tough since you are just now starting wow) they will help u lvl, and they have made leveling so much easier then before, you will be to 50 in no time @ all.

If you enjoy the game and have the cash and the time to play you should and i got the expansion it's okay but not worth it if you don't have money to burn. If your scared of getting addicted go on the site and set it so it logs you out after a certain amout of time.

i wouldnt buy it. sure people will syas its fun yadda yadda im not gonna argue that but take these cons into buy ing it.

1. nobody plays lowbies anymore they all enjoy their 70s

2. you will quest alone. getting groups might be really hard.

3. prepare for insults when asking for help wow communties are the worst of any mmos

4. never being able to afford anytihng. since everyone has a 70 prices make getting things for lowbies impossible

5. frustration of trying to get professions up when eleites steal your kills.

theres more its fun game i suppose for what it is. bland and crap. but hey if you got some friends playing power too you if. not well good luck

It is probably the best game on earth, but unless you have some serious self control and don't want your life to go in the toilet, I would not buy the game. I have experienced the "taking over your life" experience. DONT DO IT!

I would say no, don't buy it. Rather buy Guild Wars, it is way better. The graphics, etc are much better. Also, you get chuned by kids for the stupidest reason. My boyfriend tried it out, and said when he got to Level 70, he got bored. Seriously, rather get Guild Wars. And it's free online!!

Play it if you want to, No reason to buy the expansion til you get your character up to 60th.
