Woah that's a reaaally long time. Anyway a shiny Pokemon is basically a Pokemon with a different color than normal. They also existed back in Gold/Silver but the chances of finding one are extremely rare (about 1/8192). The Battle Frontier was introduced in Pokemon Emerald and continued to exist on future games. The concept of the Battle Frontier is basically battling your way through each location until you get challenged by a Frontier Brain. After defeating a Frontier Brain once, you get a Silver Medal, and after defeating a Frontier Brain for the second time, you get a Gold Medal. In Emerald, there were 7 different buildings, while in Platinum and HG/SS, there were 5. Each building was unique in some ways (for example one required you to take random paths while on another you would battle with rental Pokemon).

Shiny Pokemon are special rare pokemon with different colors, they also have better status than they used to have normaly and they are extremly rare to find one, so make sure you catch a shiny Pokemon when you find one, even if you don't want it.

Battle Frointer was first introduced in Pokemon Emerald Version and it also appeared in Pokemon Platinum. It's a gigantic location where you can fight strong trainers and frointer brains. The frointer brains have legendary Pokemon in their party. I've never reached Battle Frointer yet, so if you wan't to know more, visit Pokemon Wikia or read the other answers.

What you've may missed:

Special Evolution Trading: This type of trading is that when you trade a Shelmet with a Karrablast, or the opposite, both of them will evolve. Shelmet removes its armor and evolves into Accelgor and Karrablast recieve the armor and evolves into Escavalier. Only Shelmet and Karrablast can do this Evolution feature so far.

Fairy: Fairy is the new Pokemon type introduced in generation VI (Pokemon X & Y). This type is strong against Fighting, Dragon and Dark and is weak against Poison and Steel. The Fairy type is not only exclusive to generation VI Pokemon, but some Pokemon from the previous generations like Jigglypuff, Cleffairy, Togepi, Maril, etc. have got the Fairy type only in generation VI games.

Extra Evolutions: Some Pokemon from generation I and II have new evolution in generation IV.

There are lots of more stuff that you've may missed, but you'll learn more when playing the games. I hope this helps you alot and i don't care if this answer will be the best one. The most important thing for me is to answer questions and help those who needs it. That's my duty.

Well it seems you want to know more about the release of pokemon x and y-

A shiny pokemon is a rare pokemon (maybe rarer than a legendary) that can be found randomly on either grass, fishing or by breeding but there is a chance of 1/8000 approximately to get one. Though on some internet links there is some good ways to get one without putting so much effort on it (it is called chain fishing or chain on the grass, using the pokefinder -sorry I use spanish I have no idea of it's name) anyways these pokemons have different color as the regular ones. For example a Charizard can change from its orange color to a black color, and a pikachu can change from a yellow-mustard color to a tan-orange. Not all pokemons have a shiny form but most of them do.

Now regarding the battle frontier- on pokemon x and y after you beat all the gym leaders you can go ahead to the battle frontier, there you defeat 4 of the trainers in there and then you have to defeat the champion (it is used on all pokemon games) on x and y the four pokemon types used are; steel, dragon, water and fire. The champion has a mixed pokemon party.

Since Gold and silver the only thing that changed are the graphics and the battle. Now pokemon move instead of staying there during battle. On x and y you can see the pokemon moving as if it was more realistic. New pokemons too, not so many but there are still some. Also on this game they let you change the character's clothes and make it more personalized (you can change eye color, skin color, clothes and hairstyles)

The plots are basically the same, you still have to defeat the bad team that wants to conquer the world by using pokemon (team flare, that's what says in my game) though this time they really improved the story line.

Trading and battling online are faster and easier than before, the bottom screen if the 3DS show players connected to the pokemon game while you are playing and with only a click you can send an invitation to him/her to see if they want a battle or a trade.

Also, trading old pokemons will be certainly different. Now we will have pokemon bank and pokemon transporter (I forgot the actual name but it's something like that) with that you will be able to transfer your old pokemon to your new pokemon x and y, this is because the nintendo 3DS is not compatible to the regular nintendo DS. Though the Pokemon Bank will only be able to transfer pokemon from the black 2 and white 2 games, but you can still trade all of your pokemon from past games by first passing them to black or white 2 and then to the pokemon bank. The bad thing are two things. First you won't be able to take those pokemon back to your old games, meaning it will stay on the x and y games. And second Pokemon Bank won't be free, it has a charge of 4.99 for a year. This app will be released in the USA on December 24.

And well that's all, I really recommend to play Pokemon X or Y, so you see it all for yourself.

After pokemon silver and gold there was- (If my memory works well)

Pokemon Leafgreen and Firered- It is almost as the new series but with better graphics. (Almost the same really)

Pokemon Ruby, Saphire and Emerald. For Game Boy Advance. They introduce a new set of pokemon.

Later there is pokemon Pear and Diamond- another new set, with better graphics. For Nintendo DS lite

Then Pokemon Gold and Silver- old pokemons but it is pretty fun to play still. The graphics improve.

Later Pokemon Black and White- new set of pokemon (this far plot remain the same)

Pokemon Black 2 and White 2- its story line is based on Black and White, though 2 years after.

Then Pokemon X and Y- it came out on october 12 I think. It is BIG on graphics and a lot of improvements were there. For Nintendo 3DS. They also introduce a new type which is Fairy. AND YOU CAN ******* SIT ON BENCHES AND CHAIRS!!!

Shiny Pokemon are rare and different colored. They are like albino animals in real life.

Battle Frontier is a place to battle other trainers off the field and earn points to buy things to strengthen your Pokemon. You can battle offline or online.

Wow, you've missed out on an unbelievable amount of stuff.

Prepare yourself for a journey of immense proportions.

- A shiny Pokémon is a Pokémon with an unusual color pattern. These Pokémon are very coveted by players but have apart from the different coloring absolutely no more value than the normally colored Pokémon of the same species. It more or less a novelty for collectors purpose.

- A Battle Frontier is a place where players can compete in certain battles with ingame trainers using specialized rules. It's more or less a tournament meets endurance/survival. It's much harder than the ingame trainers as their Pokémon are trained in such a way that they are at the peak of a Pokémon's potential (more about that later). The purpose of it is to receive Battle Points (BP) to trade in for very rare items and TMs.

Apart from these you asked for, you missed out on 4 generations of Pokémon.

1st Gen were the original Red, Blue and Yellow games, 2nd Gen are the Gold and Silver games you mention + the Suicune-themed Crystal game.

Following that came the 3rd Gen with Ruby and Sapphire, latter also remakes of the Red and Blue games, Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Later also came Pokémon Emerald, the Yellow/Sapphire of 3rd gen.

These games introduced, apart from new Pokémon (like ever gen really), new battle mechanics such as Abilities, Natures and the true introduction to Effort Values (EVs) and Individual Values (IVs) which are basically the 2 things that determine how strong a Pokémon will eventually be.

Along with Gen 2 came the Held Item system which has now become even more important and engaging, making held items sometimes of game-changing importance.

Another aspect is Double Battles which is basically a 2 vs 2 instead of the normal 1 vs 1.

This gameplay is immensely fun and demands a lot more strategy of the players.

Gen 4 brought with it a lot more changes as well, the introduction of online Wifi battles being the most popular.

People can now play against other players through WiFi or trade online from the 4 corners of the world.

Another change is the separation of moves in categories of Special moves (moves that don't make physical contact between Pokémon) and Physical moves (the opposite).

Gen 4 games are: Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and the remakes of Gold and Silver, Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Gen 5 brought even more gameplay additions.

Among them is the evolution of Double battle in the form of Triple Battle.

Basically, 3 vs 3.

Also comes Rotation battle: 3 vs 3 where you fight 1 vs 1 but can rotate your pokémon around instead of switching out.

The best change to the game imo is the fact TM's now no longer are 1 time use. You can teach Pokémon a TM move as many times as you want.

Now every pokémon you have can learn Earthquake or Thunderbolt.

Gen 5 games are Black and White and later, for the first time, came the direct sequels to these games in the form of Black 2 and White 2.

The current gen, Gen 6, only has 2 games so far but a 3rd game is almost guarantied.

X and Y are the first Pokémon games with 3D environments and Pokémon (on handheld consoles at least) and looks stunning to say the least.

This gen now introduces a new type as well, something not seen since gen 2: Fairy type.

I'll refrain from giving out more info as not to spoil your eventual future gameplay fun, but the last thing I'll say is that you definitely will want to play a game from each gen before starting the next gen.

Each game has fantastic story and a huge amount of new Pokémon each gen.

You can easily pick up each game without too much trouble as the central gameplay hasn't changed at all.

Have fun :)
