I need step by step instructions if possible, (for the terminally stupid)-LOL, with a download site for any kernel I might need. I have downloaded versions 1.8 and 1.9 and nothing happens, so clearly I am doing something wrong.
I have an 8GB Micro SD card if that helps and a DS lite. I am in the UK.

http://r4ds.cn/ as you can see their is no 1.9 and also name it specifically the one you have is called r4sdhc you must say that other wise people wont know anway alright time to get your r4 working.do exactly this and i gaurantee this weill work

1.go to my computer right click your r4 (removable disk) right click

then press format then ok.

2.go to http://r4ds.cn/ download kernel 1.18

3.go to http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm download winrar3.80 install it.

4.After downloading and decompressing the new updated files, there will be one _system_ folder and two files _DS_MENU.DAT、 _DS_MSHL.NDS. drag all that into your r4

5.download anygame open with winrar then drag out the nds game in to your r4

i am dont think 8 gb chips will work...

once my sis bought a 4 gb chip, and we waited 2 hours but it still didnt load.

the memory space is too big. i use a 2 gb one.

for downloading, i go to www.romulation.net . you need an account there, but making one won't take long. Type in ur search and just download the file.

ignore the file and go download 7-zip. Search it in google and click on the website given. you won't need to download 7-zip every time, but if u dont hav it yet then this is what you do.

after u get 7-zip, go back to the file you just got. Right-click it and click on 7-zip. Click on extract files. Ignore the bottom where it says u hav to put in a password. Just click OK. Then the file will download. A folder will appear on ur desktop. Click on the folder, and theres your game. Ignore the other stuff in the folder.

Insert your chip into the adapter and scroll down to "open folder to view files." Drag your game from the desktop into the new folder. Exit (click x) and take out ur chip. Insert it to the card and then into the DS. Turn your DS on, and instead of going to the DS menu, you will be automatically transported to the r4 menu. Click on the happy faces (the first option) and your game should be there.

If my explanation is a bit confusing, you can always search on youtube for a tutorial.

If you start ur game and it says: the save data could not be acessed, then go to r4ds.cn and install an upgraded version of the r4. Currently, that is 1.18 (like the r4 expert said).

i don't think r4's can support an 8GB micro SD

1.with one of ur downloaded versions, put them into ur SD card (in one folder)

2.Go out of the folder that ur put the things in the version in and make another folder to put games into

3. Put games u've downloaded into the folder

4. if you didn't understand wat i said then go on google and type in: official r4 website

5. click on the first one and on the top of the website there should be something that says download so click into it and there r info on the side of the page

yeah probably it is faulty u should get a new they aren't that expensive
