How to pause a single-player game of Counter-strike?

hi, i'm playing CS1.6 on my PC against bots, and sometimes i wanna pause it, like when mom calls for dinner, and if i press 'esc' the main menu comes up but the game doesnt pause in the background, so how can i get the game to pause when i want it to?

pres the ~ and write "pausable 1" and then hit enter, now write "pause 1" and hit enter once again... now you can pause the game just by pressing ESC or ~ :)

You are not able to pause the game. It just keeps playing as if you were playing with people on the internet. Just exit the game, or just let it keep going.
