I am making a new mage on a new realm called "Argent Dawn" its a roleplaying realm and im into that sort of thing right now :)

I want to know the best way to level to 85 quickly, almost everyone said questing in the actual game but i dont think that is entirly true. I just dinged 6 times in 2 hours by the random dungeon. What do you guys think?

Also do you guys think a Mage is a good class to play? If so why?

By far questing would be the best, skip quests that you might get drops at really low drop rates resulting in spending to much time killing monsters that drop the quest item rarely. Also quests that make you go a far distance might not be worth while and make sure you are using your map for quest help to find where you need to be.

Yes dungeons can be a good way to level however for a mage it might take really long to get a group since you can only dps, I would suggest signing up for dungeons while you quest and knock out the quests in the dungeon it will also help you level faster.

That works at the lower levels, but once you start to get to like level 40 the dungeons will slowly level you. i would say however that when you have the experience boost from being rested the hit the dungeons up, and when its gone do quests.

once you get to 70 you have to quest because the experience bonus set in the game will go away.

in the end questing is the best and fastest way to level.

The quickest way is linking your account to a new account, but you'll have to pay for a new basic/original account to level higher than Level 20. It's called Recruit-a-Friend and it ends at Level 60.

It gets slower as you level, so questing is the quickest way eventually. It depends on what level bracket you're in, because 60-70 is now really fast whereas 30 to 50 was slow. I'm not sure of 70+ because I stopped playing when Wrath of the Lich King (3rd expansion) ruined the game.

The way i see it you can quest around on your own and enjoy the scenery and story arcs that they provide. Or go ahead and use the dungeon finder to group up with lots of different kinds of people, after a while however doing the same instance over and over again can get boring. Remember to have fun on the way to the top

if it hasnt been removed by recent patches the Rest system works pretty well.

its pretty simple really, go to an Inn and sit down

log out or switch to another charater for an hour or more

when you log back in, your XP bar should be BLUE with a small vertical marker on it.

All XP you earn will DOUBLE, untill you reach the marker. The longer you stay off the char the more rest state you earn, the farther the marker moves.

Howdy neighbor. Personally I used to think questing but dungeons seem so much faster. I do try to quest inbetween dungeons though.
