This is the end all argument for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Note that I am not a fanboy and have played both consoles and by far the Playstation 3 has longevity than the Xbox 360. These are facts and I have numerous sources. Why is this answer long? It refutes everything that Xbox 360 owners say about the Playstation 3. Also, if you're about to dish out $400-$600 for a system, you want to know all you can.

Company:

Microsoft is a company which experiences are mostly computers not games. Windows Vista is a disaster and 50% of people switch back to Windows XP. Microsoft never answered people's problems, this is why people turn to Mac. When Microsoft heard about their Red Ring of Death, they didn't fix it, instead updated the warranty.

Sony's first Playstation was a success, so they know their field with this. Their smart and reliable and always help their customers when they need too. When Playstation 2 had a lens error, it was Sony who provided how to clean your Playstation 2 with a cotton swab and alcohol, not someone else. They didn't ask you the send your system in so they can fix it, they admitted the problem and gave a simple do-it-yourself solution.

Price:

Look at the bigger picture. With the Playstation 3 you are getting a Blu-Ray DVD player which like $300 on the market for the cheapest one. Playstation 3 most expensive model cost $600 bucks. Xbox 360 most expensive model cost $450 bucks. Let's say Microsoft don't come out for another console for 5 years so lets add their $50 subscription fee to play Xbox Live. That's $250 dollars + $450 dollars for a Xbox 360 in 5 years minus the games. So you are paying more than the Playstation 3 just to use it's features. Features that should have been granted to you when you spent the $450 bucks for their console.

Problems:

Playstation 3 had a slight bug problem (3% in consoles worldwide) but was fixed right away with re-releases of the consoles. People complained about their Sixaxis controller not having rumble technology so Sony has worked on Dualshock 3, which will be coming out in Spring 2008. They actually listen when someone complains.

Xbox 360 currently has a major hardware malfunction called the Red Ring of Death (A play off the name Blue Screen of Death) that only Microsoft can fix. This is a problem in 33% of their consoles in the United States (1 out of 3). Even in their new consoles, these problems still occur. Microsoft has offered to fix it for free and extended their warranty. The problem is it takes 6 weeks to get your Xbox 360 back and it could get stolen in the mail and you won't get reimbursed. In fact Xbox 360 is number 1 in the top ten bad electronics in 2007. Everyone I know is on their second console. If only Microsoft would tell local Gamestops how to fix the problem, but they don't have the best interest in gamers in mind.

Games:

Xbox 360 has better games than the Ps3 now, but by the end of 2008, the Playstation 3 will have way more better games. How do I know? E3 2007 graded every console. Wii got a C- because they talked about their success. Xbox 360 got a C because they talk about their games in 2007 such as Halo and BioShock. The Ps3 got a B- because their longevity is noticed and their games in 2008 will be the best out of the 3 consoles.

Xbox 360 has had a head start for a year and their games are slightly better than Ps3. Their top 3 games: Halo 3, Gears of War, and Bioshock are all First Person Shooters. They don't have a mix array of games. Microsoft dishes a lot of cash to the developers to keep games exclusive.

The best games for the Xbox 360 has come and gone. So you tell me you're going to sit there and wait 2-3 years for Halo 4.

Well right now there's Resistance, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Ratchet and Clank, Virtua Fighter 5, Heavenly Sword, Stranglehold, Assassin's Creed, Virtua Tennis 3, Folklore, Uncharted, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Guitar Hero 3, Singstar and Call of Duty 4. Some games are for the Xbox 360 as well.

Upcoming exclusive games for the PS3 are Killzone 2, Haze, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Afrika, Motorstorm 2, Wipeout, Yakuza 3, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, White Knight Chronicles, Disgaea 3, The Getaway 3, Heavy Rain, SOCOM: Confrontation, Wardevil, LA Noire, Tekken 6 and God of War 3 will all be coming out as PS3 exclusives. Also the maker of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus is making his next game exclusively on PS3.

Thats like 15 exclusives with high 9.0 reviews from Gamespot & GameInformer. Most of these games take over a month to complete so you won't be putting the Ps3 down for quite some time now.

Developers had 2 years to dish out games for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 is not far behind.

Accessories

The only accessory you need and should really buy is a new inter cooler fan for the Xbox 360. You should buy it before the Xbox 360 break on you. Why won't Microsoft give it you guys for free? Because they don't care about their gamers and see this as a lost.

Playstation 3 on the other hand has numerous accessories. They had bluetooth headsets, the new eyetoy which will make the Ps3 a lot similar to Wii with kid games, internet browser. Did you know that Sony is creating an application to allow users to record Live TV. So you're getting a TiVo with a Blu-Ray DVD Player.

Online:

Xbox 360 online is better because more people since it came out a year earlier than the Ps3. When Ps3 introduces Home, the online community will become more connected and better. In Home, you can play pool, billards, bowl, and jump right into games. You don't even need a ps3 game to have fun. Expect a major knockoff from Microsoft, it's in their character to do so.

In closing, you can't go wrong with the Playstation 3. Playstation 1 and 2 were major hits and the Playstation 3 will follow. Getting a Xbox 360 is like having a Daweoo, a pretty dumb idea.

Who are you going to choose? The 2 time back to back winner of the console wars or the sophomore that came back unprepared for a rematch (When I mean unprepared I mean buggy [like the ring of death])

The Ps3 is a end all hands down winner.

PS3 easily. Has Blu ray, free internet and chat which you got to pay for on the 360, amazing graphics, light wireless controllers which dont need batteries and can be charged through a USB while playing, the controller also is six-axis which the 360 does not have so i dont no why people say 360 controller is better. Not many games out on PS3 yet but in a short time a load of great games are coming. Xbox uses DVDs and have a small capacity comapred to Blu ray discs which can hold 50GB so games can be longer. GTA 4 has been delayed untl April because it could not fit onto the 360 dsic and new technology is being developed to try and fit it onto the disc whereas it fits fine onto a Blu ray disc. Xbox 360 has a high failure rate and breaks a lot many of my friends get red rings on there consoles and have to constantly take the console back to microsoft to fix it. But microsoft are getting so many consoles to repair they can not do them all. That is a major flaw in the xbox. The PS3 is a 10 year plan so £350 is not expenive when you consider it to be £35 a year for it. When all accesories are bought for the xbox eg wireless adapter which costs £60 it costs more than £350. There are more but i cannot be bothered to write any more. PS3 wins this by a longshot.

PC will always have better graphics. People pirate a lot of games on PC so you can get almost any game for free but it is illegal. I don't know anything about the Xbox 360. PS3 is my favorite moslty because most of my friends have PS3 so, I can play online with them.

ps3 goods: has the blu ray drive. know an hd drive is 3x better than a dvd, but the blu ray is 5x better than a dvd. the blu ray disc can hold anywhere around 20 to 60GB. thats why ps3 graphics tend to be better. online play is TOTALLY FREE! while xbox360 charges $60 a year to play online.

the ps3 bads: the 20 GB model has no chrome trim, no wifi, and no memory card readers. ( but it is dicontinued and the cheapest ps3, 300 bucks) the 40GB and 80GB models have limited backwards play. (ps1 and ps2 games) you can buy software though. only the 20 and 60GB models have full playback hardware.

the 60GB is the best choice know, now around $450, wifi, chrome trim, memory card readers and get this, all ps3's except 20GB model have a feature called remote play. you canknow connect to your pc through a psp and control it. a new feature called auto play lets you turn on and of the ps3 with the psp. but if your ps3 is connected to the internet, you can have your ps3 in one part of the world, be in another, connect to the internet via wifi with the psp not only turning on the system, but controling games, music and much more, right know the ps3 game called lair, can be played on the tv or conroled by the psp! cool huh? and when your done you can tell the psp to turn off your ps3! you can now customize your ps3 and psp themes! support for may mp4 formats and megpeg formats are supported. the newest ps3 costs $60 right, when certain gamesw can be download from the built in ps3 store for %20 instead of 60!!!!!!!! plus you can download add-ons to give your game even more fun!

NOW LISTEN TO THIS:

a new xbox 360 game costs $60

and so does a new ps3 game.

the xbox360 disks are enhanced dvd's with only 8.5GB

while offical blu ray games can hold 60GB!

why pay 60 bucks for enhanced dvd content, when you can buy a high def 1080p blu ray for the SAME PRICE?

sure, the 360 has an external HD DVD drive, but for $399, and it only PLAYS HD DVD movies, their are NO hd dvd 360 games. i know because i own a ps3 (60GB) i already convinced 2 yahoo users to get the ps3. when you get yours, on the ps3 is a message feature, send a message to the name: outaku, i'll hook you up with some freebies!!

xbox 360 totally

1. to get really good graphics for the ps3 you have to have a sirtian type of t.v.

2.ps3 is rising in games but the 360 has more awsome games like gears of war.

3. you can talk to anybody around the world with the 360

4. prices are different.

5xbox 360 does get the rings of death but send it to microsoft and then they will fix it.

i think ps3's are good but i also think 360 is good. With 360 one pro is you can download more stuff. For example a year ago i recall a south park episode that could only be downloaded from 360, you couldn't buy it on a website nothing. PS3 have wonderful graphics, "heavenly sword" ( video game) on a hdtv wow it's amazing. so if it were me I do 360. Buy Oblivion it's one of the best games i've played. However I think that one of my new favorites would be assassians creek. So I hope that helps.

Ps3: They have some cool graphics and stuff with some cool games out, but the prices are just way too high right now to get that. Plus, there will be more games out.

Xbox 360: They are also highly thought of with the new Halo 3 and Assasin's Creed, but they are still trying to perfect their model with some problems.

If I were you, I would go with Xbox 360
2007-12-13 16:42:38 UTC

There is no doubt that PS3 is the better product. Much better graphics just a bit more expensive. The only advantages that the 360 has is that is cheaper and has a lot of good games out now.

ps3 you can see hd movies in the xbox 360 you see regular movies and if you want to watch hd moves in the 360 you have to buy something.in the ps3 i think that you can not play ps2 games but in the xbox 360 you can play the regular xbox games

also the xbox is cheaper. i have an xbox 360 and i like it.
2007-12-13 16:41:32 UTC
That depends, do you want a system (Xbox 360) with great games and a 33% failure rate (you might want to think about buying a warranty), or a power horse bluray player (PS3) with a few good games and a .02% failure rate. Basically boils down to that.
2007-12-15 00:36:45 UTC
if ur poor, get xbox 360

if ur a rich guy- ps3

i have ps3 and its much better than a crappy xbox 360

I would go with the 360 and here is my reason

Games Xbox 360 software revenue at retail outsold PS3’s software portfolio 8:1 and Wii’s 4:1, selling 3 times more than both platforms combined.

http://majornelson.com/archive/2007/10/18/september-npd-numbers-are-in.aspx

that because the games are kick *** in quality and games make the console

some say the ps3 has better graphics because people where beat down buy Sony and saying cell possessor is the most powerful thing since apple pie. we all knew that it comes down to how the game play and look and not specs we learned that from Amd and Intel days.

I know gamespot and Ign.com have done comparison in the past showing that games look better on the 360, and Gametrailers.com has video of recent game side by side comparisons done hd quality to find out which games look better on the console and 360 wins majority of the results or pretty much tied. here recent one done with assassins creed.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28005.html

Xbox 360 has rumble in the controller and if you turn it off it feels like something is missing, when you dont feel the gun going off, or hit the curve when you are using a driving game, and the many little effects that go on in the game, and I see why so many people and Sony fans where upset why they didn't; have it in there new console.

I will agree I have heard the results from the first release of the xbox 360 had a 30 percent faller rating, and Sony has been much more reliable. Microsoft has taken leaps and bonds to fix the person console and giving a 3 year ring of death warranty on all the consoles as well most of the consoles you buy right now have upgraded cooling cpu and improved the things that caused them to fail. I have had mine since the original lunch and it been working fine with no problems and I use it tons from play games for 5+ hours straight, to watching movies, tv shows, video arcade and demos and more. plus leaving on over night and no issues.

Yes we all know that Sony online if free but you get what you pay for. any real gamer knows that the 360 xbox live is a far superior service when it comes to online gaming and staying truly connected to your friends online, plus true skills, and very good quality service. plus many of the features of the live services are free as a silver member ship

more info on xbox live and member ship level here

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/memberships/

I will also give you info on the different xbox 360 consoles

here

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/compare101.htm?WT.svl=nav

but you save a lot if you go with the pro or the elite, the elite comes with the huge hard drive so there no need to buy another hard drive, it comes with both component and hdmi cables which ps3 doesn't come with, head set for communication and again that is extra and it makes the online unified system where you know every one can communicate, and right now two free games that are pretty kicking good titles.

Game trailers did a video game console x mas buy guide the suggest the 360 if you are a hard core gamer if you like fps action, sports titles and many more, and the wii for family and kids games.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28139.html

and yes 360 is also coming out with IPTV here info here

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/32742.html

plus Microsoft can connect to any pc in the house and get view your pictures videos and music, and that is something that ps3 cannot do. plus if you do have a media center pc, 360 will act as a media extender. plus one nice feature my play list I have on my computer I can play it on my console and play it into any game that I play or create my person game music and can play music skip title while in game and also connect and find my friends and what they are doing, join them or ask them to join me. op top of that I can be in a private chat room and being play my game and my friend play his game or watching tv and still be able to talk to him or many of my other friends with out having to exit my game or interfere with what am doing, all this can be done and so much more features on the 360 that the ps3 doesn't have, if anything ps3 will have to copy.

well both console are much better the old xbox and ps2, there many pluses about both console, but to me it comes down to their service features, and great games and right now I feel the 360 has it hands down, with top notch graphics.

go with the ps3 you et the quality of the console. and you can play all the old games off your ps2 (if you have one) and you don't need to worry about your hardware"malfunctioning" and having to send it back. Plus the graphics are way better and you get five free blu-ray movies with it.

p.s. halo hype will calm down.
