How to get Sims 2 Custom Hair Colour!?

Hello.
I have the Sims 2 and all the expansion packs up to date (with the exclusion of seasons), However i am unable to select custom hair when making sims, but my friend how only has "Sims 2 double deluxe" and "Universitiy" has the option of cutom hair colour.
Also she did not download anything to get this.
Is there a way to get custom hair colour without downloading anything?
If Not then where is the best and easiest place/way to download the custom HAIR option?

did you download custom hair?

try the sims 2 store or the sims 2 exchange for the best downloads. than click on the little "custom" symbol in the game.



if that doesn't work, make sure you've enabled custom content.



if THAT doesn't work, open the sims 2 bodyshop for your latest ep and make a sim with the custom hair. then go to create a family in the game and choose that sim.

The only way you can get the custom hair colour option is actually having 2 download custom hair. go to modthesims.com or xmsims.com for really nice hair. Here are the instructions on how to download hair:



Find the hair that u like and download the mesh first (if there is 1) tell it 2 save under my documents/ea games/sims 2/downloads. (Make a folder 4 downloads if there isnt 1 already)



then go in ur downloads folder after it is done downloading, right click on the file that u had ur hair on, and choose extract all. then download the hair color for that mesh and do the same routine.

Best site for downloads is modthesims2.com. It's free and everything's quality checked. The hair section there has hundreds of different hair colours.



As soon as you download a hair colour that isn't properly binned (not put into the blonde/brown/black/red categories) it goes into the custom hair section, the one shown by a star.



If you haven't downloaded anything, you need to give your sim a normal hair colour and change their appearance using a mirror. That gives a few more bright options, like pink or purple. Your best bet's probably to download though.
