Rogue or mage for wow?

Question

I want to level an alt and cant decide on on which class to play, rogue or mage. I have played both to level 10 yet I can't decide on which one i want. I plan to mainly Pve my way up, but i do also like to do battlegrounds as well. I love melee dps, yet I also like doing casting damage. I cant decide.

I have an 80 mage and an 80 Deathknight. At the higher levels I prefer the mage to the deathknight since I can get a better sense of the battle and feel I contribute more with the ranged DPS. I have seen some rogues do some crazy dps but I find ranged DPS are much more desired on my server. Also mages offer more to the party with intelligence and crit buffs as well as an endless supply of food. Mages can also port which makes travelling so much easier. I suggest choosing a mage and level tailoring and enchanting as well. These professions are very valuable to a mage and can pay off for your other toons as well. Leveling enchanting is a pain though.

Well if you like melee and casting i'd recommend a Pally. But for Rouge or Mage i'd pick Rouge. Rouge is good because they can Stealth around places and do serious first hit damage later on. Casting for a mage has 1 disadvantage when u run out of Mana for mage...u go melee. Till level 10 u get crappy starting weapons. It even says in the WoW Mage discription that they perfer to cast not melee. Plus for Rouge: you can pickpoket instead of relying on dead corpses for looting.

If you are good at your mage, I suggest mage but I believe that mages are one of the hardest classes to learn and be good at, As for rogues, I liked my rogue and was very good at her, better than my mage but I loved that mages have spell casting. If you can master the mage and be great at it, it would be an awesome char. to play but if not, you will start to hate her.

I just made a mage twink myself, level 19, and they are ridiculously fun. Boatloads of damage, and nothing usually gets close enough to touch you if you know how to use your CC. Go mage.

I would go with the rogue.
