I just got a new alienware computer that is running vista 64 bit and i installed sims 2... No problems at all, and it ran just fine... The problem was when i alt+tabbed in order to do some web browsing and went back into sims. Everything (mainly the sims) began flashing different colors and parts of the sims began to stretch (the stretching was a flashing also)... Anyone know the problem or how to fix it?

That might just be a developer issue. Unfortunately some games you cannot do that with. You can Alt+Tab with Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield 2 fine, it causes a quick disconnection but things fix and you can return to gameplay, unfortunately for a lot of single player games, it messes up the gameplay. The game is configured to take over your screen and be the sole process of the computer at the moment and when you minimize it, it messes up the configuration. When I play Obivion and Fallout 3 (Both produced by the same company), they both quit out and require a restart when I alt+tab them. Unfortunately you cannot fix this and it's not an error.

i had the same problem. Its not the windows thats doing that. I play the sims on vista and have it on my other com which has windows 7. It is most likely your video card. It may not be compatible with the sims 2. If its an ex-government laptop the sims wont work the way its ment to. The only thing i can suggest is get a new computer. Thats really all you can do sorry. And to get a decent computer it will cost at least $500. I got a laptop from a pawnbroker (cheaper stuff/used stuff) and it costed $750 but they said $620 will do and we got it and its really good. Worth a couple grand. Its a compaq Presario cq60. it has 16.9' screen, built in webcam with integrated microphone, 5-1 integrated digital media reader, 3 usb ports, dvd/cd drive, built in speakers. Windows Vista basic, intel celeron, its got 2gb ram, genuine microsoft software. Its perfect! it plays the sims 3 and sims 2 at the moment i have 7 expansion packs on it, still runs fast. Keep your eye out for something like that :)
