I am having a really odd problem with my gamecube. I just bought a used copy of Super Smash Bros Melee from Gamestop, and it gave me a disc read error. So...after trying a few more times, and cleaning the disc (as well as the lens), it still is crashing whenever I start playing the game. So I took it back, and got a second copy from Gamestop, and guess what? Same message. I thought that is may be the gamecube, but there are two things wrong with that: I have barely used the thing (I bought it brand new originally), and it still reads my other games. So my question is this- it is possible that I got a bad copy 2 times in a row, or is there a known problem with Gamecubes having trouble reading certain games?

I've had this problem many times from GameStop. Recently with Left 4 Dead. Most likely, you bought two bad games in a row. I would suggest trying another copy of the game (Best If NEW). Try the disk(s) out on a different Gamecube console. If that doesn't work, then it may be your Gamecube. The only suggestion I have for that would be to invest in a can of air-duster, and blow away any dust around the lens and inside the game itself. If the problem still persists, then you may have to just save up some cash and buy yourself a Wii, because your just wasting money buying another Gamecube. If it works on the Wii then you have a WIN-WIN and a 2-for-1 with you games seeing that the Wii plays Gamecube games.

I think that most likely, you bought a bad copy two times in a row, I used my gamecube alot, but I have never encountered this error. Try buying a new copy! the game is old so it doesn't cost like $60 anymore :)

Nintendo can't make a solid on-line provider (apart from Mario Kart on-line) the activity lags horribly. there have been 30 seconds left, it took 5 minutes for those 30 seconds to flow right down to 2 seconds and then it merely iced up. Its not your fault or your wireless connection's fault. the internet is merely quite undesirable.

Try blowing off your Laser, any dust build up may cause this. If that still doesn't work, then try cleaning the disk-bay. Take this advice seriously.
