I am getting a new computer because my mother won a laptop, and she is selfish and isn't giving me it. All she did was giving me her old computer.

And on my old, slow computer, I have The Sims 2 installed. And I've started a legacy, and I'm in generation 4, which took me some time, and I want to move the family and neighborhood to my new computer. I'm using a Maxis neighborhood, will that make it worse? How do I transfer characters and neighborhoods?

-Go to my documents >Electronic Arts >Thesims 2

Copy your sims 2 folder and put it on a disc/Storage device. you'll probably need a pretty big storage medium. if you dont have alot of custom content you should be able to use a dvd.

After you install the game on the other/new computer, put the sims 2 folder back in the same spot as you copied it from on the old computer. all of your saved games, sims, neighborhoods AND custom content will remain. ive done this numerous times and everything goes right back to the way i left it.

good luck and happy simming! :o)

Go to my documents-Electronic Arts-Thesims 2

Take the sims 2 folder and put it on a disc/Storage device.

Install sims 2 on other computer and just put this folder back, it'll save all your sims, not custom content though.

as far as i know there is no way to keep all the games data intact... you might try to copy all the data off the old computer by going to my documents/EA games and coping the entire Sims 2 file onto the other computer... i cant guarantee anything but it is the only thing i can think of! make sure you only copy the data and don't cut it in case there is another way... hope this helps! i know how crappy it is to have to complete restart with the Sims 2!

You can do it but you will have to rename all the files in the

neibourhood folder, for pleasantview you must rename all the files in

the N001 folder that start with N001 to N005, I've done it a few times

with Namewiz, it works OK.

hope i help
