My friends have been playing for the past year and thought i might give it a try. I went to the store and found out that when you buy the game it only last for 30 days? Then you can have different payment plans. This is the first game i have ever heard having this as far as i know. Is this game ever gonna be sold as one package without payment fees? And why do you pay month to month in the first place?

You pay monthly to make up for the server fees and because the content is constantly updated and improved. Running all these servers and maintaining them isn't free for Blizzard, so a once off payment wouldn't be fair for them (although they're extremely wealthy now, so they could easily afford it :P).

I was extremely sceptical of paying monthly for games too, but once I got the trial I was convinced. I ended up playing it for about a year and I regret nothing. It gets boring after a long while, but playing it almost non-stop for a year must make it a pretty good game!

You can buy gamecards which are around $20 and last for 2 months, instead of signing up with your credit card or anything. This is the method I used.

I personally play World of Warcraft, and about the 30 day trial, it's just to see how you like the game. (you can level to 70 in 30 days... lmao. anyway,) Its a very great game to play and have fun on. I have 2 70's and getting my third soon. The two payment plans they have are:

A.) paying 15 bucks a month with your credit card

B.) buying a 30 dollar card that you input on their website every two months (This is what i use since i don't have a credit card)

Very very fun game! I do recommend playing the Warcraft games first, to get the basic lore down before you start playing, makes the experience MUCH better. it will never be sold without payment fees, because it is a MMORPG, and is constantly being updated with new features and better things. That is why you pay month-to-month, or every two months w/ the card.

There is no way to play past the 30-day trial without paying monthly. However, Walmart and similar stores offer game-cards that cost around $30 which activate the game for 60 days at a time. 10-million people play WoW, and they all pay for it every month one way or another. It's definitely worth it. I've been playing just over a year and don't plan to stop any time soon. Age of Conan (new mmorpg) also has a subscription fee, with similar payment options.

World of Warcraft is an mmorpg, massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. The fees you pay go for server maintenance as running such servers are not cheap. This is how World of Warcraft makes their money in order to keep the game alive. You won't ever find it as one package without payment fees later. MMO's don't tend to work that way unless they are ftp, where are free to play. World of Warcraft and other big games like that, won't be free to play.

Blizzard knew before releasing the game that it was going to be an outrageous success. So they decided they could get a lot of money with it and, they did! The game isn't going to be released without the fees. Blizzard is not going to do that. The game is right now the most played game for about 2 years or more already, so they don't see any reason of doing that. You do have private servers tho, you just need to change your realmlist(in the WoW folder) and then you're ready to go. You don't need to pay for private servers and they have extra's included. The bad thing is, that they have a lot of bugs, but most people ignore them.

Its not a one time payment game. Its a service your paying for. As there's constant updates and new quests, they gotta keep paying the developers, therefore gotta keep charging the users.

Or there's Guild Wars which is the standard 1 time payment. Just has heaps of expansions.

it would probably be cheaper to just do the online thing with the game. Almost every month there is upgrades and what not so i doubt there is going to be a full version any time soon. Its only 5 dollars a month. Cant really beat that.

it will never be sold as one package..

your paying for membership to updates.. content.. and overall helping blizzard make this game less problematic, ever growing content.. and functionality of this mmorpg.

im sure when you start playing.. you'll soon forget about how much you pay because you'll soon end up playing no other game.. other than wow.

if you look at it overall you save money.. i used to buy countless games each month.. but now i rarely buy any other games.. and only play wow.. i pretty much saved a ton of cash!

they have subscription cards at some stores which have 60 days on them or more

the main reason they have to charge players monthy is to pay for the servers which hold over thousands of players and data.

you need a really good server to have all that data and players connected at once so thats why it costs alot

you have to pay 14.99 a month to access your game, it is fun and worth it in my opinion. no they will never sell it without a payment plan, you can purchase a game card from the store you bought it at, its like a prepaid month. i pay month to month on my credit card. you pay month to month cuz thats what they charge and they want to make money and people are willing to play it. for those games that are free online, there are usually lag issues. i have 3 accounts i have to pay for, me, my husband, and one for the kids to share.
