Firstly, the game went to an immediate black screen at the neighborhood start up menu and reverted back to windows. No crash or error message, just the lonely look of my desktop staring back at me.
Secondly, I updated my video card driver and my Direct X, they are now updated and Direct X is now the proper .9 version.
This time when I ran the game, I got all the way to the neighborhood introduction cinematic when the game froze and the cursor starting blinking.
I checked TheSims3.com's system requirement checker and the results of that analysis were "Congratulations! You're PC exceeds the minimum requirements to run The Sims 3!" I have all the requirements, so WHY DOESN'T THIS GAME WORK.
I hear a lot of other people are having either a ton of problems, or none at all.
What the heck is going on!?!?
My system specs:
Windows XP Professional
Nvidia GeForce 6800
Pixel Shader 3.0
Direct X .9
More than enough RAM, and TONS of memory
Gahhh I could scream from all this frustration. I've been at this for hours. Please, any input would be awesome. Also if you've had any problems getting your Sims 3 game to work, I'm curious to hear about it.
This is a sad day for The Sims when EA first lets a successful torrent copy leak, and then their ACTUAL game doesn't work.... :(
