World of Warcraft: Cataclysm or Lich King?

Question

I'm getting WoW for Christmas this year. I am wondering if I should get The Wrath of the Lich King or Cataclysm. I am new to WoW, only played it once in my life, when my friend had to go to the restroom. LOL. Anyways, I was wondering what one I should get? I already know what class I would set up. A gnome rogue. So which one?

I highly recommend buying all three games (WoW Classic, BC, WOTLK) before pre-ordering Cataclysm. Also, the best thing to do is purchase only WoW Classic and Burning Crusade.



Leveling will take quite some time depending on how much time you put in but you won't be reaching 80 anytime soon.



The BattleChest Edition comes with both games along with extras but most of the guides refer to content that was changed many patches and updates ago. You're better off with the digital downloads. Right now they are on sale, so you might want to get on that deal.

You can't have the Lich King without Burning Crusade, and you can't have Cataclysm without Lich King AND Burning Crusade. It's expensive.
