Well, to be completely honest Halo is an amazing series of games, If you are looking for story lines, then Halo Reach would be your best bet since it's the prequel to the first Halo game, then when you are done with that and you are "satisfied" you could then either wait for the Halo: Combat Evolved remake (Halo 1) or just buy the old version from the Xbox Live Market place. If you are looking for a good competitive multi-player then Halo Reach would also be your best bet, it's really good online, community maps and a huge list of game modes so it really never gets boring, I am going on about maybe 15 days worth of hours into it and I am not bored with the multi-player, it's really worth playing, you can customize your armor in any way you pretty much want, a lot of armor effects, for example to make you look like you have electricity surging through you. And there are challenges every day that if you complete you get more exp. points which count as money. But you don't pay for guns, they are all unlocked, only thing you need to buy is armor equipment and armor abilities. The more money you get the more you level up, and there are no prestige's, the levels just keep going up and it does take awhile seeing how nobody has actually reached the highest level. Oh, and there is also a harder weekly challenge and it usually consists of killing a certain number of enemies online, finishing a levels on the hardest mode with all skulls on which make the game harder in certain ways. Those are called LASO's (Legendary All Skulls On) The servers are really nice to making the connection pretty much always amazing. You can take videos of your games you played, also photo's, and there is a forge mode where you can make your own maps. very good game, I would highly recommend Halo: Reach as the greatest Halo and Xbox 360 game. If you like games like Command and Conquer then Halo Wars would be a good choice, but it doesn't go along with the original Halo story line.

But if you really like the story line the original story from start to finish goes:

Halo: Reach

Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo 2

Halo 3

If you do decide to get it my gamertag is Giilgamesh

Really hope you enjoy it if you get it!

The Halo games follow a linear storyline. The original was released back on the Xbox 1. It was followed by Halo 2 on the Xbox 1 and Halo 3 on the Xbox 360. The story progressed in order through each of them. The lastest release is Halo Reach for the Xbox 360 and the story line actually goes back and tells the tale before the original halo.

So if you're interested in the Single Player/Coop Experience, Halo Reach is a good place to start. If you end up enjoying it, you can get the original Halo game for Xbox 1 or PC. Halo 2 is also available for both Xbox 1 and PC. I'd recommend the PC for both original and 2 because they're a little dated on the Xbox 1. You'll have better graphics and multiplayer on the PC.

All of the games offer awesome multiplayer except for the Original Halo on the Xbox 1. It was released before Xbox Live came out. There is also another title called "Halo Wars" that is very different from the other titles. It's a Real-Time Strategy title that was created by Ensemble Studios (the same people that built Age of Empires). It's not a bad game, but is very different than the other titles.

Overall Halo Reach is the most recent and offers the most complete experience. It's got the most options for both Single and Multiplayer and has the best graphics. The addition of the prequel storyline makes it a logical starting point. You won't go wrong with buying Halo Reach. If you like it, you can dig into the other titles later after you understand more of the storyline.

I am an avid Halo fan and by far the best Halo game released is Halo Reach. I recommend getting Halo Reach above all the other ones.

Definitely halo reach. It is the latest one and has an awesome campaign mode and really good forge mode. The multiplayer is basically the same as halo 3 just with armor abilities and it has firefight. Of your looking for cheapest halo game I'd have to go with halo 3. Not as good as halo reach but it still is fun.

If you are looking for a good co-op experience, get halo reach. if you are looking for a good online game for competitive Multiplayer, don't buy any of them.
