I have also had the same issue. I thought I had been banned or something stupid like that. If you hover over the Left hand lower corner where your chat box is and right click general chat a box of options will come up, make sure you have /2 (trade) listed and guild as well. If that doesn't work

go to your log out menu, settings and chat you should be able to try something there.

Finally if all else fails, the reset may have been caused by your UI in loading, log out to your toon screen and click the add on's button in the lower left hand corner. Uncheck everything and then log in. after you are able to talk once you restart the game you will be able to again.

Well there are a few different answers I can give you, but as you said you are not a new player so something alse must be wrong. If you were a new player I would say first ask your GM if he has you set to talk in guild chat, as that is something they can control. As for the numbers and local defense, where you are can effect what number you press as all areas do not lave trade chat, local decense and what not. Last but not least if you are on a trial account you can pretty much not count on talking, reading mail or getting into a guild.. they have nurfed it pretty bad becasue of the spammers, But it sounds to me like you are just going to have to open a ticket, I am sure you know how but in case anyone else has the same problem there is a little red question mark at the bottom of your screen, click it then press talk to GM.

I actually had this problem before, and it's because somehow I magically turned all of it off. Even after I typed in /join " " it never worked. I had to open a ticket and they walked me through on how to turn it back on. You know that clear little box that appears if you hover your mouse over it? Someone I clicked something and made that go away. I couldn't see any text at all. Not my XP, or Warnings, or anything. I had no idea how to get it back either.

I'm really not sure what you did, because if you just left those channels, you can just type in /join trade - if you're a dunce like me you might have to open up a ticket. I can't remember how I got my chat box back.

you must be in the trial version. someone in the trial version cannot join a guild nor chat with guild members. you can join groups if you add the person that invites you to THEIR group. you can even use the whisper (/w) mode and the reply to whisper mode (/r) to someone in the group that you have joined but not to others. someone in a trial version also may not make trades, and presumably cannot talk about them either. to talk in general to people use the (/say) command to chat, but don't hit the return button, just the space button and keep typing.

Most likely this is related to some option which changed the key bindings.

Since the chat keys are hot keys, they may have been accidently changed.

By deleting your WTF and Cache folder under your main WoW directory you will restore WoW back to its default settings. I have had to do this a couple of times when the latest patch messed up the addons i was using.

Its good to do it every once in a while to clear out old addon information.

Another option to is to right click the chat toolbox

This will pull up a general tab which has some other options for chatting and such. It might be there.

Well it does seem like you are playing a lot. I play WoW, and I'm not addicted, but I have a brother that got kicked out of the house because he was too sucked into the game to hear/see/(lots of different things) anything! He would sneak on, etc, and he just came back, and is still sneaking. I would just say, everyday cut it back maybe 10 minutes and you could probably get the habit of getting off earlier. A few months ago, I was addicted too! ^_^ I stopped, actually forcing myself to. You might be playing a lot, but is it making you cut back in school/work, etc? That's what really counts!

If your in the trial version of WoW this is normal. If your not in the trial version open a ticket and talk with a GM.
