Hey all, I was thinking of starting up WoW again, and didn't want to go in blind and not knowing anything of what has changed. I was going to roll a new character as well. I was thinking of another mage, but do they still suck? Also, when does that Catalysm expansion thing come out? I saw some stuff on that and it looked interesting with the new races so... Thanks!

This game is no longer about being challeneged. It now caters tothe lowest common denominator. Raiding is made acessable to just about anyone who can get a group. Mounts are basically given away. For me it lost all feeling of accomplishment when I did something. Find another game to play.

If you're looking for free get into guild wars or DandD. If you're looking for a good, mature community look into Lord of the Rings Online.

Cataclysm looks like crap to me. They're killing another dragon aspect, adding two crappy races (worgen? REALLY?) and screwing up the whole world. The only thing that's good out of all of this is that they're adding flying mounts in Azeroth, which we all know should have been added in a patch. WoW isn't what it was a year ago.

Well, if you haven't been on since Wrath of the Lich King, you have missed a lot! First of all, there is a new continent, Northrend. There is also a lot of new dungeons and a new class, the Death Knight (fun class in my opinion, have to have a level 55 character to unlock though). There is going to be cross-realm dungeon grouping in a bit, and there is also the new Dual-Spec ability (allows one to have a second set of talents, costs 1000g though...)

Mount status is also different, one can get a mount at level 20, then journeyman riding at 40, and a flying mount at 60.

As for a mage class, I got mine to level 36, and in my personal opinion... they take up WAY too much mana WAY too fast. That should be fixed soon though, since they are lowering mana costs for spells soon, I think...

Also, they are lowering mana cost and raising health regeneration for lvl 1-10, and giving rogues dual wield immediately.

I am not even going to start talk about cataclysm, that info is everywhere!

So, that's about it... sorry if I missed anything.

Well it just depends what your taste is for the game. If you are open to changes in the game, then I would start up that dusty account again. You can find more about "Wrath of the Lich King" at www.worldofwarcraft.com Oh yea, blizzard started this website "Battle.net" and that is the headquarters website for all blizzard games now. In about 3 days you'll have to merge your WoW account to a battle.net account in order to play. If you do the merging before Nov. 11 you'll get a free penguin in-game pet. Blizzard has created lots of in game offers and a lot has changed in WoW since Wrath came out.

Tons of stuff has changed. More zones, better quests, more class equality, more professions, earlier mount levels, better economy (at least on my server), world battlegrounds, larger talent trees, dual talent speccing... And achievements, which really add a new dimension for the casual player.

Cataclysm comes out about a year from now, so don't get excited for that just yet.
