I am a little older than most gamers (I waited online to play the Pong Arcade machine when it first came out...that should give you some idea.), but I love video gaming.
I play mostly RPG games, Racing and any Puzzle/Mystery games (I loved Tomb Raider and PoP series).
I am aware of the hardware of both the X-box 360 and the PS3. Both are wonderful systems..I already have the Wii.
But, based on games published and future titles...which system should I chose? I know FF is comming out soon for PS3...but I do not want to base a decision on one game.

I have both, and I prefer my XBOX360 much more.

And I got mine a year ago, and I haven't got the RROD, meaning the newer Xbox's dont seem to have it.

Heres some games out at the moment for the XBOX360 which are superb:-

Devil May Cry 4

Gears of War

The Elder Scroll's IV: Oblivion

Halo 3

Mass Effect

Assassin's Creed

King Kong

Amped3

The Orange Box

And some games comming out soon which you must not miss:-

Lost Odyssey

Tom Clancys: Rainbow Six Vegas 2

Jumper: Griffins Story

Saints Row 2

Grand Theft Auto IV

Hell, I know some of them are out on PS3 aswell, but although you'll be getting the same game on each system, with XBOX360, you'll be getting Achievement Points aswell!

Each game has "achievements" on them, where you unlock them for a certain ammount of GamerPoints via doing a certain task. (ie On Gears of War theres one for completing each level + the game, collecting COG Tags, killing enough people on Online Ranked Matches with a certain weapon) and as you can see, it motivates you to do more things available in the game, because anyone on XboxLive can see how many gamerpoints you have (and Say you got 30Achievement Points on a Game, that 30 will be added to your gamerpoints). And the most Achievement Points you can get on a game is either 1000 or 1250.

XboxLive is also GREAT! You go on some games online, playing against other people, download movies, demos, games, game addons etc. And although you pay for XboxLive (its 40Pound per year) you get loads more people on XboxLive than PS3 online and also, much better gaming!

So, to me, the Xbox360 wins by far.

As much as I like the PS3 and am really excited for some of the games on their way out, the game library at this time for the PS is marginal at best and you'll be waiting for months to get a decent game.

RPG's right now are almost non existent, at least good ones. You basically have Mass Effect on X box, and morrowmind on both platforms. With fallout coming out for both platforms, FF on PS3 and Fable on Xbox.

Racing games have Forza and project gotham on X box, and Gran Turismo and Formula One on PS3.

My opinion, if you want to be able to go out and have a selection of games right now than get the Xbox. If you think you can play Morrowwind, Formula One, and some action racing games until games like Fallout, Gran Turismo, and FF come out, than I'd go with the PS3.

And if you have an HD tv you also get a BluRay player.

PS-if you choose the xbox get the warrenty, apparently they've fixed the problems with the rings of death but how much can you really trust microsoft.

you say you play RPGS - Then get the xbox 360 for Fable 2 - which is going to be an amzaing game.

mass effect is another great RPG with a very long lifespan.

you can look up infomation about it on various sites like IGN or even youtube.

Xbox live is a better online system that the ps3s. And don't listen to the ps3 fans who just post "ps3" but don't put any evidence.

The rings of death is mostly due to xbox owners who do not look after their consoles (not putting them in a well ventalated area) and the problemhas mostly been resolved - I have had my 360 with no problems for a while now.

thinking this shows up decrease than Australian Questions in simple terms, i'm assuming your a aussie or that is located it in the incorrect section. yet Xbox 360 wins arms down. that's certainly extra fee-effective, and has far extra video games than the ps3. additionally, it expenses $ninety a 365 days to have a stay account right here in australia. Have by no capability owned a ps3 and by no capability plan to.

I initially bought the PS3 only because I knew the FF series of games would come out on that unit only. I'm a hardcore FF gamer, FF7 being my favorite. Only FF game that came out for the xbox360 was XI, which of course is online only.

I own a xbox360 as well, and I enjoy playing this unit alot because it gives you a sense to brag to others your progress on gameplay. And if your a hardcore gamer like I am, this unit will be very fun. With the whole xbox360 live gamerpoints they have for their games, to me, it gives the game more fun factor, because not only are you playing the game, but you're trying to achieve other goals as well. Much like questing/missions. You get rewarded for actually finding secrets. Like Tomb Raider, that game is full of secrets. The PS3 wont publicize your gaming efforts to anyone other than yourself. Xbox360 live will. only downside to that, you have to pay for xbox Live, <$5/month ($50/year) though.. so its no problem.

It depends what you want though, I would suggest probably getting both, and if you can't afford both, you can't go wrong with either one. PS3 is on a steady creep up to getting more games out now, where as xbox360 already has an @$$ load of games out for the system. One thing to keep in mind though, PS3 doesn't subject to PS3 games only, it will play PS2 and PS1 games also, with adapters to import old saved game files. And if your into movies like I am, you wont need to purchase a portable HDDVD or BlueRay player. The PS3 has all you will ever need, great games like FFXII/XIII(coming soon) and Resistance1 and 2(coming soon). A gamer such as yourself, you can't go wrong with either.

The guy Frantii is right!

I say also XBOX 360. The game site 'Gamespot.com' tested both consoles and finded out that PS3 has not steady FPS always like XBOX 360.

Also the 360 can play games at HD quality with FSAA 4x and 60FPS all the time! Feel me?

You may want to look at the "health" problems of some units. I myself have had the ring of death and had to return my XBOX 360, I got it back pretty quickly (no complaints there) but maybe PS3 doesn't have these problems. I love my xbox, but I too am looking at PS3. The games on xbox are pretty cool, but now many games are coming out on most consoles, except for those that are exclusively ps3.

DO NOT GET AN XBOX 360 It is terrible, about one year into your xbox 360 career you will most likely get red rings of death and have to send it to microsoft for 4-5 weeks, and xbox live is $8.00 a month ....ps3 live is free all u need is high speed internet....Ill let you decide now.
