I'm trying to get a new computer to play the lord of the rings war of the ring, its a game from 2003. here are the requirements my current computer has:

Windows 7 home premium
Service Pack 1
_______________________
System
Processor- Intell (R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00 GHz
Install Memory (RAM) - 1.00 GB
System Type- 32-bit Operating System

and the game Won't work, it says:
L_Rasterizer:: Create Device -- Could not create device for Direct 3D. This device does not support the queried technique.

Please make sure you have the most recent drivers installed for your video card.

If I got a computer with these specs, would it work?

the computer you have now should be able to play it. by buying an AGP interface graphics card. you can buy like a 6600gt AGP for possibly 20 30 dollars used on ebay. or an even better graphics card for that price to play your game. but the system you mentioned .the Intel I5 with 8 gb of ram. its awesome that will definitely give you the most joy from your game. you will be very happy playing on a new system then the old bad boy. older games that dont run straight out the box on a windows 7 system. you would just need to go into the game icon's properties and put to run under windows xp sp2 compatibility. any entry level pci express graphics card will be able to play your game. but if you have a chance buy a more mid-level graphics card so you can play more recent games as well. have fun.

Try this and see if it works:

Right click on the game icon.

Left click on Properties.

Left click the "Compatibility" tab.

Left click to put a check mark in "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

Select "Windows XP (with whichever service pack you have)"

Click OK and see if it works. I'm not sure if it will but it's worth a shot.
