Zelda Ocarina of Time can it be beat without Hylian Shield?

So for you all you fans of Zelda games most of all Zelda Ocarina of time we all know about the 3 shields you can get in that now I for a fact that the 2 other Shields the Deku Shield and the Mirror Shield in which the Deku Shield you have to buy for 40 rupees to get past Mido in the Kokiri Forest to get to the Deku Tree and then the Mirror Shield you get at the Spirit during the part of it you do as Adult Link and you need it to get through the temple as well as for Defeating Koume and Kotake and not to mention in part of Ganon's Castle as well too but anyways I just don't think you really need the Hylian Shield to get past anything or to solve any puzzles and yeah it may be good to defend yourself with as young link on that part of Death Mountain where you have to avoid the falling rocks and as adult link its all you have to use for defending yourself until you get the mirror shield due to the fact the Deku shield can only be worn as young link cause as adult link its good to have to avoid rocks shot at you by Octoroks as well as fire and ice Keese that fly into you but all I asking is it even possible to beat the game without getting the Hylian shield entirely its just that I never thought about trying to do it that way until now and I would like to know for sure before I actually try to do it so if anyone knows if you can do that or not let me know okay

It's not NEEDED for anything (In the sense it's not required to beat a boss or puzzle like the Mirror Shield is), so yea, you can clear the game without it. Certainly will make the earlier parts of the Adult age tougher without being able to block shots, but it's not required.



Edit: Zang raises a good point too -- it's really no different than using the Goron's Sword, as you can't use a shield with that anyways, other than the part you need to switch back when you fight Twinrova.

No, it is not required for anything (the Mirror Shield, however, is needed, for puzzles and such, of course). Of course, it is easier at the beginning to buy it and use the Hylian Shield. You don't get the Mirror Shield until closer to the end of the game. But you are never required to use the Hylian Shield.
