If its server updates, patches, bug fixes, etc.. then my question is why is the website down, AND why are the other top rated private servers also down. Think about it, multiple private servers going down..

As of yesterday, all of the top WoW private servers have been issued a DMCA by Blizzard asking them to immediately shutdown. Currently, all of the major private servers have ceased their realms, including Toxic-WoW, Chaos Crusade, and a number of others.

Toxic-WoW quote:

"We are looking into the issued DMCA against toxic-wow.net and will update the website when we are finished."

A few of the websites are fighting back at the DMCA, and some are even calling it a hoax. I hope this helped.

The major WoW private servers are being served with the DMCA. It's a cease and dessist message to all the major WoW servers, otherwise there will be legal action. I bet that because of that, many of them are going to go down. So, we just have to wait and see what Aether is going to do, as well as the other private servers.

That would be because the PRIVATE servers are presumably illegally making money off Blizzard's Intellectual Property, and they have been issued cease and desist orders under the DMCA laws in the US. If they do not have tacit permission from Blizzard to run a WoW server, they can not legally do so.

You should still be able to log onto one of the Public Servers if you're paying your subscription fee to Blizzard.

there were rolling resets, scheduled for today, theyll be up soon. winterveil starts in about a week or so, so it could be them getting ready for the influx of traffic for the event and for all the new players getting wow for christmas. be glad they are down now so they wont when the servers get swamped by noobs.

Hmm, there could have been a crash in the system. but that does sound highly unlikely for Blizzard to do that...

Could they possibly be adding something to all of it? Christmas is coming up soon.

here is a good answer (this might not have been directed towards toxic-wow's hosting company, but several of these have been seen)
