Before you can make money you have to gain an understanding of what you are buying and selling. You need to know the current market value (which, by the way, is always changing for some items) and you need to know how long it will take to find a buyer at your asking price. As in real life markets, it is all about supply and demand. What is the demand for this item? What price does the item usually sell for? How much (or rather how little!) can the item be bought for? The most useful and reliable resource for this information are the forums. Reading forums will keep you up to date with market trends and you will also be able to pick up good deals. I will cover this in more depth later on.

This thread was originally created by Tomisme, on August the 24th 2004. Since then the guide



has evolved quite a bit. The second version wasn't well organised due to not enough space,



but it reached 13k+ posts nonetheless. The third suffered from similar problems as well as a



tremendous amount of spam. That's why the fourth version contained just the price guide,



just like this version.



Last bit of information: there's an exact copy of this thread in the German version of the



forums as well.





A few tips:



[1] If you are using a web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer, then you can use



the search option by pressing CTRL+F to search for a specific part of the runescape guide



(or Apple+* if you use a Mac).



[2] Most items are logically placed to correspond with what forum you'd trade them in.

For example: a Santa hat is bought and sold in the Discontinued Items forum. So you'll be



able to find it in the Discontinued Items section of this thread.



[3] It may help you if you copy and paste parts of this runescape guide that you need to a



program such as MSWord, Notepad, etc. That way you won't need to repetitively return to the



forums.
