If you're just looking for clothes, hair, and houses, I think http://thesims2.ea.com/ is the best, and probably the easiest. The Exchange has a ton of downloads made by users.

When downloading off of http://thesims2.ea.com/ (example through the Exchange or the Store) you will automatically receive a download message or a blue button that pops up asking you to *install*. Click install and it will install directly into your game. Thats it! :)

To actually access the content you download you have to make sure you have enabled *custom content* in your game.

Click "Options" and then click "Game Options- the picture of gears" and in the upper left corner click to enable custom content at start up or whatever it says..

You may have to exit and reload your game, but from now on every time you start your game it will ask you if you want to enable your custom content..ie: your downloads. Say yes.

***NOTE: EA warns that custom content from fan sites can mess up your game, but personally Ive never had any trouble using content from http://thesims2.ea.com/ ***

If you don't automatically receive the button to install the exchange items, you may have to download the EA Download Manager or (EADM). This is cool anyways b/c you receive the Sims 2 Store Edition which has random extras.

Anyway.. the EADM is an application built to manage your downloaded content from EA.com. (Primarily the The Sims 2 Store items)

Go here: http://thesims2store.ea.com/help.html and click the link: *download the EADM*

Hopefully that helps! :)

The Sims 2 clean installer pack is the best thing to use.

http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/

When you install the pack, go back to modthesims and register for a free account. When you get to the free download section, click on the block that has the open black box (install pack method) and download. A box will pop up from the install pack that will give you information about the download. Now if you see something written in red, delete it immediately because it is a bad file.

Good luck!

PS - I use this now and almost everything shows up in the game that I download. You may notice in your game that a sign will pop up telling you about the items that were downloaded, just click okay.

You can download The Sims 4 for free here: http://bit.ly/1oheILP

It is a game special made for non-gamers like me because the tools are very user-friendly and you can customize each character

It's the best game of its category.

Clean installer is cake....But some items I do with Winrar!!....Download Winrar for free and then download SimPe but you dont really need to mess with it....and then Download sims 2 CEP (color enabler) (type those into google and it will pull it right up) blah once you did that ..Download a simple outfit 1. save it to your sims 2 downloads folder. 2. Open it with WinRar (when it comes up you se ethe title of what you downloaded and the SimPe icon) 3. Highlight just the Title of your download(s) then at the top click extract to.. 4. Double Click My documents then double click EA games then double click sims2 and from there just click once Downloads and press ok..if it says like 22kb already exsist just press extract to all..then BAM there you have it!
