Best class and race for a mage on oblivion?

Whats the best class and race for a mage on oblivion? Also, if you know, whats the best for a warrior too?

personally i have both a mage and a warrior.



For a mage: Breton under the sign of the apprentice. The Breton will get a 100 point boost from the birthsign and a 50 point boost from its own skill. The downside is that the apprentice gives you a 100% weakness to magic BUT the Breton counters with a 50% resistance to magic so it ends up only giving him a 50% weakness.



For a warrior: Put him as a redguard born under the warrior. This will make him extra strong plus his major power increases all essensial stats for being a warrior and helps alot in tough boss battles.

I think the best race for a Mage in Oblivion is definitely Breton. They can regenerate Magicka fast and they are also resistant to Magicka when attacked. A good class is Spellsword, because it gives you more Magicka but also some toughness for fighting, which you have to do at the beginning because you are not sneaky enough to sneak around people and you don't have enough Magicka to kill your toughest enemies. A good birthsign is The Lady. I played through all the major plot lines with this configuration. This configuration allows you to be a tough warrior and mage after a few level ups.

In my experience Wood Elves make a nice sneak/range race. As for a Battle Mage, Dark Elf, hands down. They have high Blade and Destruction stats as well as others which are usefull for the class.

I use a mage-warrior. High elf, Intelligence and Willpower, sign of the mage or the atronauch, but you'll probably want mage, then for the seven things blade, heavy armor, and your five favorite types of magic. I think I might have chosen one other non magic thing and then four types of magic.
